Vidpro Gripster Mini Tripod for Digital Cameras

(5 out of 5) by S. J. Huntington on Feb 11, 2009 (Ogden, UT USA)
You know, there's an awful lot of hype going on about these little critters . . . which one is best, which one works, etc! There are others out there, including the gorillapod, but for the most part, they're all the same!!! I did tons of research and read dozens of online reviews from customers before finally spending a few bucks and trying out this one. First, and most importantly, spend a couple extra bucks and buy from a quality manufacturer, because if you don't, you DO get what you pay for. The other ones aren't worth much! That's all you need! This Vidpro Gripster model is identical to the gorillapod, and is significantly less expensive. It works great, its sturdy, stable, and holds a lightweight digital camera without ANY problems! It has a quick-release head that allows easy access for mounting and detaching the camera, and the construction is virtually indestructible heavy plastic and rubber parts. It does exactly what it says it does, and can hold onto most all surfaces with a little manipulation and patience. It DOES hold well to doorknobs, tree branches, table tops or table edges, the back of a chair, and can sit on very uneven surfaces such as large rocks on the edge of a lake. As long as you balance the camera on the tripod evenly, which can take a few seconds, you CAN get some great angles and shots when using this tripod over all other traditional mini-tripods.

I, for one, am really enjoying this little "monkey," and its also fun to just play with. Its kind of like a lego toy, but with more versatility and conventional functionality and use for digital cameras. You never have to be left out of family photos again!!! I highly recommend this little Gripster Tripod! Its a good buy, and a great little item. Unless you're a professional photographer that needs a larger tripod stand, you'll never need another tripod than this one!! It really does go everywhere!!!

wrapped around my finger.

I didn't get this for a camera, but for a digital recorder. I can wrap it around a door knob or a chair backing or a rail on a shelf, or just set it on a table. handy little device.

Tri-Pod-Tastic!

Screw it into the base on your camera and you're ready to go with a compact, easy to use, super-functional tripod. Good stuff!

Not quite what I expected

Product looks, and works as described for the most part. The quality seems a little cheap, almost like a generic product. I have one of the tiniest digital cameras available (Canon PowerShot SD780 IS), and it supports the weight just fine. I wouldn't use it if the camera was much larger (most smallish point-and-shoots should work). I like that the small top piece can stay connected to the camera, while not using the tripod. If you want to use the tripod, simply click it into place. No real complaints.

Easy and Fun

This is exactly as described. Works on flip video as well as conventional camera.
