Okay monitor but horrible backlight leakage prevents blacks from being "true"
Okay, I bought this monitor under the impression that it would have a decent contrast ratio and decent blacks. The monitor is very aesthetically pleasing, except for the wobbly stand.
Upon turning the monitor on, I was greeted with very vibrant colors, but as soon as I started viewing a dark scene in a game, on the internet, or in a movie... I noticed horrible back light leakage on the bottom and top of the screen. It practically made the blacks gray.
I thought this was a high quality monitor, apparently I was wrong. I'm hoping it was just a defect, but so far I'm very disappointed d with the purchase and I will be RMA'ing the monitor in hopes that I get a better quality version.
Just as a note, it says my monitor was made in China. What the hell, Samsung is out sourcing now too?
Also, the dynamic contrast ratio settings in the options is a total joke, It's more annoying than anything else. All it does is increase and decrease the brightness when the screen is really bright or really dark. This does 2 things, especially in dark scenes, it takes away from the vibrancy of the colors and sometimes if a scene is partially dark it's annoying watching the brightness constantly fluctuate from bright to dark, and takes away from the overall "experience". I found it was just best to leave magic bright setting on game when watching movies or playing games. The dynamic option is decent for internet usage.
