We've had our Aluratek now for several weeks. It was purchased specifically to listen to a morning radio show in a neighboring town which doesn't broadcast clear until later in the mornings. I'd been listening to it via my iPhone so just assumed they (the station) transmitted via the Internet like so many other radio stations. Here's the rub - do your homework and verify the broadcast is in a format which your Aluratek can receive. Fortunately our station does but there are some which do not. Example of those which work are broadcasting in MP3 or Wav file format. Adobe Flash won't work!
For those who can't figure out how to add favorites - you do it on the Internet site v-tuner for Aluratek NOT ON THE RADIO! Can understand how you'd get this mixed up but just log into the web site and like magic whatever you choose as a favorite will show up on you radio next time you turn her on. Very cool indeed! The web site is a bit rough and could use a bit better interface.
A word on customer service - the one station we desired didn't show up on the v-tuner station listing. Oh no! I wrote the station an e-mail which was answered in one day. The station was added per request and we're happy customers. Amount of variety is outstanding.
There have been a couple of instances when a station is dropped. This has been rare and wouldn't alter my decision to purchase this device. Even my wife can work it! Sorry ladies, she's not a techie type.
How does it sound? I'll say it sounds outstanding for an AM radio. Very deep and rich. Easy to listen to! Yes, I'd buy it again and recommend it highly. PS - don't forget to set up your favorites ON THE v-turner WEB SITE!
Thanks for a reasonably price product which does what it says and is supported by people who respond!

Pretty good for the price...
We've had this about a year. It's a good product for the price. A good way to take your favorite internet radio station to the basement workshop or the garage or the bedroom (as long as your router has enough wifi range).
1) Interface is a little clunky but works -- you connect to your wifi and then it re-connects next time you turn it on.
2) Sound quality is OK, not great. Equiv to a mediocre radio.
3) Device is stable and doesn't crash.
Maybe a good way for people to try out internet radio without spending too much money.

Wish I could load my station and setting files
Bought this internet radio for special price.
I encountered the first frustration to setup my wireless network to connect to this internet radio, since I have 3 wireless APs with same WPA-PSK setup, I have to setup 3 different profiles (each for different AP, which has same keys).
I listen to myradio from hkreporter, and I can't find it on this unit, I have to use vtuner page to add it, it's another frustration; however, once everything has been setup, it works rather well. Sound quality is good, but the sound comes as mono even it claims to have 2x2 watts stereo.
I think this is a decent unit, but I just wish I could load .pls and .asx files to load stations without going through the site, as well as load wifi setting file, this is more convenient for wifi users with WPA-PSK setup.

Internet Radio
For the price you are paying it is just fine, it is also quite funny to look at but it does all those things you want internet radio to do for you.

Connection drops off
Let me start by saying that I really like this product. The sound is good enough, the display is bright, but not too bright for me, and the operation and setup is simple and intuitive. It meets all of my expectations for an internet radio alarm clock except one: the connection to the internet keeps dropping off. I bought it so that I can wake up to overseas internet radio stations, but during 3/4 nights it would lose internet connection and the alarm would revert to a chime. I can get that for ten bucks.
And when it was working and playing, it would lose connection and stop after somewhere between five minutes and an hour. I have never had problems with the wireless at my place, and wireless PCs stay conencted with no problems. Nevertheless, I upgraded to the latest firmware on both my router and the clock radio, and I tried a variety of wifi channels, but nothing worked. So even though I love the clock when it is connected, I am sending it back since it is essentially useless for the one thing that I wanted when I bought it.
