Awsome TV

(5 out of 5) by John Doe on Feb 3, 2009
When I was looking at TVs in the store, this one looked just as good as, if not better than, the other TVs. The only big difference was the price. Other TVs in this price range simply didn't compare while this TV compared to TVs which cost $500-$800 more. I am not a TV expert, I only base my judgment on how the picture looked, but what else do you need? Who cares if the other TV has a 'phase shift converter' or operates at 4 million jiggawhatchyamacallits. And I really don't care if my TV can't make me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. What matters to me is that it looks amazing and is very reasonably priced.

Awesome

(5 out of 5) by JS on Feb 1, 2009 (Phoenix)
My husband noticed this TV in a big box store next to a Sony, Sharp, etc and we agreed it had the best picture of them all including matching the Sony plasma. We watched the pricing and bought it on sale at a big box store this weekend 1/31/09 at a great discount. Easy setup and the picture is absolutely beautiful. You can't go wrong with this TV but we bought the 3 yr warranty for $59 just in case. Philips really did a nice job with this unit, the reviews I've read of their newer versions are not as good as for this unit. Highly recommend.

Philips= best deal for TV!!

(5 out of 5) by Garrett Mccandless on Dec 4, 2008 (Pittsburgh)
I love this TV. I have had it for over 6 months now and is just as good, if not better than the more expensive brands. It has a great color and looks amazing in HD! Don't waste $500 extra dollars on some other TV because of the name at the bottom of the screen. Trust me, this TV is the best!

Great t.v. but...

(3 out of 5) by Joshua Rains on Apr 22, 2009 (Silver Creek, GA)
I bought this t.v. from Wal-mart 3 months ago. It looks awesome. The HD channels look good. PS3 with the HDMI cable is amazing on this t.v. Here's the "but" I came home after one weekend and the t.v. turned on but had no picture. I thought maybe a cable problem but it wasn't. The picture would cut in and out at random. Sometimes it would take 5, even 20 minutes for the picture to show up. The crazy thing about the whole thing was the t.v. had sound but no picture. (Look up this problem and you'll see it's a growing problem among LCD T.V.'s) It became very annoying, so I carried it back. And to no surprise to me, the customer service desk had one behind it the day I carried mine back. Plus they questioned my date of purchase because the t.v. showed up as a discontinued item. But it was brand new 3 months ago? Wal-mart selling older models as new models for cheaper prices? Maybe so. But I got my money back after 2 hours of arguing, literally. The t.v. is great, when it actually decides to work. Be sure to check out what you are buying before dropping down some money.

Great TV, but ...

(4 out of 5) by M. Gabl on Nov 18, 2008 (Los Angeles)
I got this TV a week ago. It's a very good looking TV with 4 HDMI ports, an 'as-a-dark-as-it-gets' matte LCD screen to give you a nice, crisp, contrasty image - and not too many image controls, but what you need, plus a few nice proprietary image and sound enhancing technologies. And the 47"+ screen is visibly larger than a 46" screen. I love this TV, but unfortunately I already had to exchange it because the speakers broke down after three days. If the replacement turns out to be reliable, I'll call it "a lot of bang for your bucks".
