Audiophile Grade

(5 out of 5) by Keith Bradshaw on Aug 30, 2009
I own high end home equipment and recently purchased these to put in a boat, and yes I know that they're not intended for marine use, but they just sounded too good to not buy. I'll have no problem keeping them protected anyway as they're mounted in boxes. These speakers are everything I'd hoped they'd be. I have an older MasterCraft ski boat that doesn't have a lot of room for stereo components like the newer models have; so I put a premium on high efficiency, in addition to great sound, hoping that I could get by without a seperate amp. I also purchased a Pioneer DEH-P4100UB head unit (equally happy with) which has only a true 14 watt RMS output; so the 96 Db sensitivity rating of the speakers was great. The combo is plenty loud and I'm very impressed with the sound from the speakers. They are very dynamic with crisp highs and respectable lows even though I only have them in the small wedge shaped typical 6" x 9" boxes.

Yes I wish I had a really good 50 - 100 watt amp to push them like they're capable and maybe I can find a crack to stick them in somtime, but for know I'm very pleased with my simple system. Expectations are the key here. I didn't expect to replicate my home system.

Infinity 6929I

Awesome speakers for the money. Best $100 speakers if you ask me. I installed these in the rear deck of my '97 Civic sedan, replacing the old factory speakers. Driving it with a new JVC head unit, no amps. They can be a bit bright sounding. The -3dB setting on the crossover is an option. Couldn't be more pleased!

These speakers rock!

(5 out of 5) by Stephen Bagley on Aug 2, 2009 (Houston, TX United States)
Bought these to replace blown front speaker in 2004 Dodge Ram. They probably will sound better with a power amp but still sound fantastic just hooked up to the stock stereo.Strong bass, clear and powerful mids and highs.Good bang for the buck.

**Do not buy unless planning on using 4 channel amp**

(5 out of 5) by Nicholas B. Young on Feb 17, 2009 (Tuolumne Meadows, Yosemite Nat'l Park, CA)
These speakers are amazing. They put out boat loads of clear beautiful sound. My only complaint is that I installed them thinking i would run them off of power from my Pioneer CD deck like the previous 6x9s i had and was met with a terrible buzzing noise. After talking to the audio tech at the local best buy i was informed that although the Kappas are one of the best speakers on the market they also require a lot of power. I bought a 500watt alpine 4 channel amp and hooked all the speakers to it (i also have the kappa component kit for the front). It sounds amazing but ended up costing me about $200 more than i thought it would because of the amp.
