Great design and reliability

(5 out of 5) by Andrew on Apr 9, 2009 (NJ United States)
I like the fact that it has a very compact form factor with flexible cables and mini-USB.

Also, I have had two other USB hubs that have eventually broken while hooked up to my Macbook Pro, I have no idea why, or if it was just a coincidence. But this hub has been going strong with no problems for much longer than the others lasted.

Outstanding design

(5 out of 5) by John Kenney on Jan 22, 2009 (Boston, MA)
This is an excellent product - I strongly prefer this design configuration over the Belkin mini-hub. Reason being, this hub has flexible cables that can flow off in whatever direction whereas the 4-sided Belkin hub forces a space-intensive set-up with cables or devices coming off in all directions.

In other words, this design is more compact and flexible.

Although I've not used it yet, I also like the built-in mini-USB connector. Given all the configurations that cameras and whatnot come with, always helpful to have options.

I also think the quality of the product is high. It feels solid and durable.

Definite 2 thumbs up!

The greatest USB Hub ever made!

(5 out of 5) by P. Weyzen on Aug 27, 2009 (Lompico, CA USA)
This is how USB hubs should be been designed from the very start.
It's small and super convenient and works with no problems!
I will never buy a "box hub" ever again, this makes the need go away!

I'd give it a 6 if I could.

What else needs to be said?

Works well, love the squid design

(4 out of 5) by Gemelle on Jul 28, 2009 (OC, California)
It does what it says. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I couldn't plug the wireless keyboard USB and the wireless mouse USB into this squid USB. I don't know why, but there was a conflict and the wireless keyboard wouldn't work anymore.

I'm not a computer tech whiz to understand or solve the USB conflict, but as a general consumer, I would assume such a conflict isn't normal.

So far I've been able to plug in my 1) wireless USB keyboard, 2) USB flash drive, and 3) cassette to mp3 USB device into the hub. I only wish I could plug in my wireless USB mouse. I only have 2 USB ports on my laptop.

And yes I've tested the hub with just my mouse and keyboard USBs and there was still a conflict. Oh well. I do love the squid design tho. I had a square hub before (which I lost) and it looked like a ninja star when I used all 4 ports, plus it took up a lot of space.

Overall I'm pleased with the Targus USB hub, if I experience any more problems I'll post it in the comments section. But so far so good.

Targus put some thought into this...

(5 out of 5) by Steven Seebode on Mar 6, 2009 (E. Hampton, NY)
Nice job, Targus! This is a handy little thing to throw in the laptop bag. It is especially nice in that it is so flexible - good for tight spaces. It seems durable enough, and the plugs have smooth and snug fits. There are cheaper hubs, but a few extra bucks makes for a more versatile addition to the accessories bag. It is not powered, but I'm not dragging around a pile of peripherals either!
