Poor Picture quality, I can't believe it's a Sony!

This is my first Sony TV set (KDL46V4100). My wife and I chose it mainly because of Sony's reputation.
We loved it so much at the beginning. But couple days after I took it home, I noticed every time I turn on the TV, only on HD channels, there are many black spots on the picture, especially on people's faces. After one hour or so, those black spots gradually disappeared. I am not sure if this is due to the cold weather. But this is Sony! It should not need warm up! My old Panasonic and Hitachi do not need, at least.

I visited sony's website and did a firmware update. It doesn't help. Since it's still under warranty, I am going to call Sony for repair/replacement, or return it to Best Buy.

Every thing else is good. But poor picture quality is enough to get this Sony a 1-star. Unbelievable!

Last Sony for me, terrible support, terrible features.

I got this TV for what looked at the time as a great price (sub 1k$)
and I preferred Sony over other brands due to their quality reputation.
It appears that Sony are producing junk. The image quality is mediocre,
and the features are minimal, the menu is terrible, searching for features
you endup nowhere. Sound could be better.

One point that was very important for me is support for 25fps via HDMI.
While the rest of the brands support this option, Sony quantized the world
into regions, and there is no way for you to play HD that was recorded outside
the US. I will repeat this point as it is important: Sony HDMI would not play
European standards while most of the other TVs do.
I tried contacting Sony via email thinking that there should be a simple patch
to correct this glich. Nada! Their support keep talking about PAL vrs. NTSC which
are brodcating standards for SD, and have nothing to do with their lack of support
for varrying HD frame rates.

This is my last Sony TV. They simply optimized me away!

EXCELLENT LCD TV IF YOU CAN FIND IT OR THE RIGHT PRICE!

I own four LCD TV's and I just bought this Sony Bravia KDL-46V4100 for $1,299 including a PS3 console, which came with one great PS3 game and a Blue Ray edition of Wall E! For this price, this TV is a bargain!

I have compared this TV to several other models and I think it stacks up well against many TV's with a bigger price tag. The colors are very accurate and the controls are fairly easy to master. I have had some minor issue with trying to get the display to disappear off the screen faster, but this is hardly a reason to not consider buying it.

For a TV with good looks and features, if you can find this TV for the right price, it's a pretty smart choice. Remember folks, no TV is forever, but this TV should give you years of enjoyment before having to go to the next level. It's a matter of how much you want to spend on a TV and how much you care about being up to the minute when it comes to state of the art standards?

The way I see it, you can never truly be up to the minute when it comes to electronics, so buy what you like at the price you can afford and enjoy! Life it too short to be overly concerned with minor differences on these sets, but do your research before purchasing any TV.

Great Product

I have had this LCD HDTV for two months now, and I completely satisfied with it. The picture quality is excellent. I have added a sony theatre system, and the two work well together. The setup takes some time, but the result is good!
I updated the ROM software on the TV. The process was easy, and I noticed that some occasional picture distortions that I had noticed earlier, are now gone.
