Nice Concepts, But it skips!

(1 out of 5) by C. Rickett on Dec 4, 2009 (West Valley City, Utah USA)
I got this for a birthday present for my daughter. She had trouble from the start with it skipping. She tried if for a little longer and found that at first it played fine, but after a few minutes would begin to skip. She tried different CD's and same problem. I got it because the features are the right combination, CD player with MP3 capability and with a USB port too. Too bad it did not work.

Perfect For Me

(5 out of 5) by Herb Roleknotty on Nov 13, 2009 (WA)
I was looking for a CD player that would play MP3 CDs as well as MP3s from USB thumbdrives. I searched in store at Target, Best Buy, and Radio Shack; as well as a dozen online retailers. This was the best unit I found. So I bought it.

Pros: It has performed very well for me. I have traveled with it three times, and found it to be very portable. I have played MP3 discs and MP3s from a thumbdrive, both work perfectly. It even picks up the radio pretty well most of the time. To listen to a disc or thumbdrive, you just insert the disc or plug in the drive, then turn it on... it starts playing right away. The appearance is even nice. The flip-up handle makes it easy to carry. The antenna almost completely disappears inside the unit.

Cons: The tuner is analog, I would prefer digital. While traveling, the speaker grills dented to easily. The user interface is NOTHING like an ipod or similar device - no large display or scroll-through song lists.

I'm very happy with this player. Would by it again in a heartbeat.

An MP3 CD idea

(3 out of 5) by Eric Oconnor on Sep 30, 2009 (Sunnyvale, California.)

I've been looking around for a boom box that plays MP3 CDs and was tempted to get this.

Frankly I didn't see any units that I really wanted.

Out of desperation I popped an MP3 CD in the portable DVD player I'd bought my kid and presto it worked like a champ.

I tried burning an MP3 DVD thinking that there was no way it would work, and yet that worked as well. So if that's what you're looking for, you might take that route.

/ I gave the product a neutral three stars since I don't own it.
/ Apologies if that skews things either way.

Can't get it to play from USB drive

(1 out of 5) by O. VONWACHTER on Sep 17, 2009
Can't get it to play from USB drive, which is the reason I got it. Maybe my unit is defective or maybe I'm doing something wrong (if the latter, the instructions are useless)

Works Great - Just Plug-and-Play

(5 out of 5) by Robert L. Gray on Sep 14, 2009 (San Jose, CA)
I bought this for my (81 year old) father who is a Bluegrass music fan. We opened the package and I connected a USB stick I had pre-loaded with around 150 songs. After some quick instruction, dad was an MP3 pro. The sound is clear and plenty loud. The controls are easy to use (the text near each button is pretty small but easy to operate once you get the hang of it). This is the second Coby MP3 player we have owned (the first was re-gifted to one of the grandkids on a whim). Works great, playback is clean, ultra compact and feature rich for the price.
