I bought this for my dad's spotting scope. it works perfect and is much cheaper than the one sold for the scope.

A lot of things wrong

(1 out of 5) by V. Koti on Oct 24, 2009
After ordering this product, I received a Zeikos 57" Pro Series Tripod Item #ZE-TR57A which does not even look like the product in the pictures on this amazon page. This I did not notice early enough, in the excitement to use it along with my binoculars for stargazing. My question to the seller is why does the product not have a brand name on this page and why is the product shipped different from the product shown in the pictures?

The box of the product claims it can take a weight of 1.67 lbs. So it should be perfect to use along with my 1.5 lbs astronomy binoculars right? The gear elevator handle used to increase the height of the tripod broke under the weight of the binocular while the height was being increased.

Despite not being an expert in this area, I wasn't expecting a miraculous product for the price. But I wasn't expecting a product that would break in a couple of weeks after three uses either.

Bottomline - I can't help feeling cheated.

You get what you pay for

When will I learn? I tried looking for a deal on tripods, but this is far from a good deal. I used the tripod to hold my spotting scope and your spotting scope is only as good as your tripod. Every part of this tripod was loose and shaky, making spotting very difficult. In addition, the quick connect piece that joined my scope to the tripod would not stay fastened and kept coming loose. I would advise spending more money and getting a much better product if stability is something you're looking for.

great tripod

i recently purchaed i scope and it did not come with a good tripod so i found this one for cheap. the scope works really well at steadying the image. i would reccomend this tripod to anybody who owns a scope

Excellent for the Money

I just received this the other day and went to use it with excellent results. If I wanted any more strength or stability I would have had to spend at least twice as much. It is a light and reasonably durable tripod that I will be able to hike into the wilderness with without adding a lot of weight.
