KEF KHT3005SE Awesome Set
(5 out of 5) by Clifford W. Pepper on Aug 15, 2008 (Silicon Valley)I just bought a new set of KEF KHT3005SE speakers. They are truly remarkable. I still have my Bose Lifestyle 38. Even though the Bose is a good compact system, these KEF speakers are so much better. The sound quality on the KEF's are inspirational. You can hear every High,Mid,low and lfe low without question. The sound is warm and BIG!! Even though they are small speakers they will give you the impression that they are big tower speakers. I set my crossover to 80Hz. With the Bose I had to set my crossover to 150Hz. The sound on the Bose is muddied compared to the KEF's which are crystal clear. This is due to the Uni-Q application which fits a tweeter in the center of the speaker giving it the crystal clear timbre. The sub on the KEF is a solid performer as well. The sub produces a clear bass response with very little boom and no distortion. If your thinking about buying a Bose system first try out the KEF KHT3005SE. I thought the BOSE Lifestyle system's were excellent however after owning the KEF's and hearing what they can do I definitely recommend the KEF's over the Bose anyday.

Perfection in glossy black!
(5 out of 5) by sfobayguy on Dec 21, 2008WOW!! I just installed the KEF3005 SE 5.1 system with my Onkyo SR805 AV Receiver and Pioneer Kuro Plasma. The sound is beautiful...rich and warm with every, high,low and mid range beautifully produced and very clear with no distortion at any volume. They sound just as perfect loud as they do at lower volumes. You would really think that they were much larger speakers. Nice!

(5 out of 5) by Bahr Naseer on Jul 8, 2008 (Stavanger, Norway)I have a set since last year, It is a very beautiful set, I have the black shiny version with black stands. A nice touch is that the cable (THX rated monster cables) fit inside the stand. They are super modern and good looking.
As for sound I use a Pioneer srround receiver 5x 110 w. I can play really loud, and and the sound look so transparent and true it is just unbelievable.
I play radio and CDs on stereo with center speaker and subwoofer and this give such a great sound and envelope of the different instruments and vocals.
So I love them, and seeing a film with the sound just right just put you into a different world.
So for you with a modest budget and a passion for beauty and modernlooking things (a bit SF actually).
I have had KEF floorstanding speakers before, I really like the true sound of KEF speakers. Ofcause the more you spend the better the speaker, but then again cables amps and so on become very expensive.
