What a great little device!

(4 out of 5) by Jimmy Mac on Aug 7, 2009 (NJ, USA)
I needed a new all-in-one, and this had excellent reviews on Amazon. It installed on the wireless network in no time, and has worked reliably ever since. Installation on to other devices on the network was a breeze too.

I haven't yet used the fax, so I can't comment on that. The print quality is very good. I'd give the machine a 5-star rating if the scanner software was better. I don't use it a great deal, so unfamiliarity may be part of the issue, but it just doesn't come across as at all intuitive to me.

I'd happily buy one of these MFC's again, and I'd certainly highly recommend it to a friend.

The Excellant Printer

(5 out of 5) by Farhad Nasar on Aug 7, 2009 (NY USA)
I highly recommend to buy this printer.

I have always been an HP user. So I bought an HP officejet 6500 but returned it because it is too slow and you cannot print in grey scale duplex using "grey scale black cartrige only." It was extremely slow. So I returned it and bought this only yesterday.

I only used it with wireless network. It behaves like it is directly connected to the computer. Printing quality is excellant. Photocopy is wonderful. You can scan directly without any wires. I turn it off if I am not using it. If you turn it on, it automatically connects it with the wireless network and then you see "online status" on your task bar immediately.

Yess .. it feels a bit clunky but its qualties outweigh all these things.

I usually dont write reviews for things but I thought I should write something about this printer as it is doing an excellant job. Particularly people who are looking for some new printer with features.

Perfect For A Home-Office

(4 out of 5) by BB on Jul 31, 2009 (Upstate, NY)
I bought this as a home-office printer. I was using my Canon MP780 All-In-One, but realized that the print quality of my letters was not as crisp as I would like for a professional output. So, after two days of online research, I bought this printer.

Install was a breeze with my LinkSys Wireless Router, even with WPA2 encryption, I had no problem. Since I do have my wireless router with MAC filter enabled, I had to disable the MAC filter first, let the printer connect, get its MAC address from my router, and then re-enable all my security. Worked great from two rooms away (maybe 100 feet?).

Printing is sharp. Very nice indeed. And the software setup was non-problematic. Scanning is quick and easy, the hardware and software buttons are programmable. I'm not using the fax, so I can't comment on that feature.

The only complaints I have (and the first is not really a complaint because I knew before purchase) is that you have to manually feed your envelopes one at a time. If you market a printer for home-office use (or even small office use) it would be nice to allow for a multiple envelope feed. Again, I knew that before purchasing, but as your using it, this becomes annoying.

My main complaint is with the manual feed slot. There really is nothing but a one-inch ledge to hold your paper. This becomes awkward when feeding anything longer than 4 inches. Envelopes kind of flop down, as does paper, and sometimes causes the auto feed to jam (the minute you insert the paper it pulls it in a little). Then, you have to open the front and remove the whole drum and toner before it will stop registering a jam. In the beginning, this was happening 4 or 5 times a day (I print ~10-20 envelopes a day). Now, it hardly ever james because I've gotten used to the angle to feed it.

Other than those very minor annoyances, this is quite the printer. It's not so big, pretty light to move around, the wireless is very quick in my setup, and the output is nice. Text is sharp. And for the price, you can't go wrong for a laser printer (replacement toner, high-yield, goes for like $45 with approx. 2600-page output).

I would recommend this printer. I print 10-20 pages a day, photocopy the same, add the same amount of envelopes and all is nice and smooth.

Straightforward all-in-one

This all-in-one works well. Perhaps the best aspect of the machine is that it has a fairly fast print engine.Copier works well but have not used the fax as yet.

Very pleasantly surprised!

Maybe I'm just out of the loop on technology, but based on the great price on this multi-function, I did not have high expectations. I was using an Epson CX-5400 which started life as a personal home printer and had been doing duty for 6 months as a printer for my business - it was hooked to a Dell wireless printer adapter and every few weeks I would have problems with the set up. So I looked around and based on the fax, scan and laser print + wireless networking, this was the best deal I found. I've been using it for a month and printed 3 reams of paper and everything is flawless. The only issue I had was entering my WEP key with the limited keypad capability. I called tech support and I had this thing where when I pressed 0 it would move to the next digit without waiting for me to push the arrow.... tech support kept insisting that the same model they had there didn't work that way. I finally hung up on them and tried a few more things and finally figured it out on my own. I've got 3 laptops on the network and have printed from anywhere in the house with no problems (even though my wireless router is upstairs and the printer is in the basement). Only time will tell if this is a good deal or not, but so far it is doing everything I need it to do with no problems or hassles.
