Memory is always needed!!!

(4 out of 5) by Gabriella on Mar 22, 2009 (San Francisco, CA USA)
I have not had this item for too long but I have had long hours of work which I have had it on for and have noticed that heat wise it is not overwhelming compared to my laptop. I also think it is really nice to know my laptop could get run over and I have two back ups of my stuff and set up if needed. Will admit the light doesn't turn off while connected to the computer but I don't find that really that annoying. Anyways I like it so far and recommend it. I still have tons of room left to fill

Firewire does not work with HP desktop

(2 out of 5) by Samsudin B. Kamis on Mar 1, 2009 (CA, USA)
I bought this product for 2 reasons. 2TB of hard disk space and support for Firewire. I have HP Pavillion desktop with firewire and this device does not work with HP desktop using firewire cable. I have to use USB 2.0 instead. The WD support page only mentioned issues with formatting the hard drive but even after I formatted using USB cable, it cannot be detected with firewire cable connection. I am still not sure if I should return the product since it work with USB but I was just disappointed that Firewire does not work for me.

I have been using these 2 Tb disk sets for only 2 weeks, but so far there have been no problems and all have worked well.

INDUSTRY LEADER FOR PERFORMANCE, PRICE AND DESIGN

(5 out of 5) by SILVER SPRING on Mar 29, 2009 (Silver Spring, MD)
A stunning industry leading engineering marvel for performance, price, functionality, and design. As close to a PERFECT product as it gets. I spent A LOT of time researching for a new 2TB backup to compliment my brand new iMAC 24" and this product exceeded all my requirements and expectations. I was all ready to purchase the Lacie (because it was less expensive) until I read the abysmal failure rate among reviewers - after reading these I would never trust a Lacie external hard drive (not something you can afford to have a high failure rate)- the fact that this drive is both whisper quite and GREEN makes it even more attractive and less of a guilty pleasure. This same drive is sitting there in all the Apple retail stores for exactly $100 more that what you can purchase it on Amazon for and I had mine on my door step exactly 4 days after ordering on-line....pretty darn hard to beat.
