Great monitor!

(5 out of 5) by M. Corti on Aug 12, 2008 (New Orleans, LA)
I purchased this monitor to go with my MacPro 15" laptop. Because of all the great Amazon reviews, I was all ready to buy a Samsung for about $100 more, but when I saw how crisp and clear my boss's HP display was I changed my mind and purchased the HP L2208w. I love it! The color is a little cooler than my laptop display but it's totally adjustable through the Monitor>Color>Calibration>Advanced control panel. The display is crisp with full color and saturation ranges and nice deep blacks for photograph editing. It took about 3 minutes to get it out of the box, plugged in and in use. At first I used it in duel monitor mode with my laptop but now, most of the time I just leave my laptop closed and use the HP as my sole monitor. It coordinates nicely with my laptop and Apple keyboard too. The only thing I don't like about it is the adjustment controls. I can't actually see any labels or icons on them to give a clue what does what, though I think they are there, they're so faint I can't see them. That said, there are an ABUNDANCE of adjustments you can make, everything you can thing of, and if you click around enough, you'll eventually get it exactly where you want it. It's a really great monitor at a fantastic price and I couldn't be happier with it.

Replaced my old NEC 1700M+ LCD Monitor with this

(5 out of 5) by R. King on Mar 18, 2009 (Midwest USA)
Where to start....
I have been using a NEC 1700M+ LCD Monitor since 2001, and paid $1000.00 for that monitor. This HP L2208W LCD Monitor replaced it, for $182.00, including s/h.

Even tho I did not buy this HP L2208W Monitor on Amazon, I will say a bit about it here.

This is a great monitor. It is BRIGHT and CLEAR. I opted for This particular model over the HP w2207h because of the Anti-Glare screen, and I really don't need my monitor to flip sideways like the w2207h monitor does.

This HP L2208W has no USB Ports and No Speaker built in. I did order the SpeakerBar for it from Amazon, and it fits great and the sound is good for what it is. The Monitor has a nice tilt feature, but no swivel feature, which I can live with. My only gripe would be that is doesnt have any USB Ports built into the Monitor, but again, something I can live with.

The Stand is VERY Sturdy and Overall I am quite impressed with this HP L2208W LCD Monitor. If anyone is worried about glare on the screen, there isnt any, which makes online gaming, as well as offline, pleasurable.

If you are in the market for a 22" LCD Monitor, take a serious look at this monitor, I would be surprised at anyone who didn't like it.

Fantastic Monitor/TV

(5 out of 5) by A. Yusaf on Apr 11, 2009
I bought this monitor as a second monitor for my computer. I already have a Samsung 22" and was about to buy another one but when I saw the price of this monitor, I thought I would try it out.
I have to say this monitor is fantastic. The picture is clear and sharp. And the best part is that I have my cable box HDMI output to go into HDMI input of this monitor through a switcher. So now I can switch between cable TV and my second monitor without any trouble, and since the input is HDMI, I get sound too without any additional setup.

A nice enough monitor with a VAST flaw.

(2 out of 5) by Chris Hann on May 6, 2009 (Alameda, CA United States)
If, like me, you use this with a Windoze laptop that has a screen resolution different from the 1680x1050 that this monitor INSISTS on using then you are in for some occasional trouble. The problem is that, even if it can display the resolution that the Windoze box comes up with, it will only do so for a few minutes. After that it pops up a message saying "going to sleep" and does. I would like to throttle the self satisfied little twerp who decided this was a good solution. So if your idiot MS software engineer can't find the screen in time to set the graphics card resolution then the monitor runs off in a huff and won't talk to you.

Pick a decent monitor, I highly recomend Samsung.

very good monitor

(4 out of 5) by Bill Sanderson on May 10, 2009 (Salem, OR)
The color is perfect and the size is generous. Detail clarity is somewhat lacking with dark gray on light gray colors, and some photos are not extra high quality. It is a very good product at a great price.
