I have owned a very good Sony Surround system for several years now and this week I decided to dump the 10 year old CD player. The amplifier (much newer) has DTS and SACD capability and so I thought I'd replace the CD player with the Sony SCD CE595 and bought 5 SACDs in anticipation. Yesterday I brought the new player home.

To my disappointment the Sony SACD/CD player sounded much inferior to the old CDP CE 525 that I was trying to replace. I tested Kind of Blue, Dark Side of the Moon, a classical CD, among others. Unbelievable!

This morning I went back to Best Buy first thing and brought home this DVP NC 800H, having decided not to bother with SACDs. I am very impressed. CDs play in 5.1 surround with such clarity I wonder why I need SACDs at all. The picture quality of the DVD player is excellent also. And to think that I can now play several DVDs without leaving my Stratolounger recliner my money is well spent. The next time I purchase an SACD player it will be a high end machine. I hear Marantz is v. good.

I purchased a Sony 5 disk player 6 years ago and it's an excellent DVD/CD player. It is still playing and is used daily. When I decided to setup my living/greatroom I had no doubts about which DVD/CD player I would buy. My second Sony Progresssive Scan 5- Disc DVD/CD player is functioning up to specs. and is easy to use. If you want a 5-disc player look no further than the Sony.

For a movie fiend like me, this is the answer to a prayer. I had long been lamenting the fact that there wasn't a DVD player that handled more than one video at a time. I couldn't understand why they had CD players for 3 or 5 discs, but no DVD's! I was elated to discover that Sony had one. I have used it for a couple of weeks now and love it although I haven't completely learned all its functions. If you habitually watch more than one movie a night, you'll love this. I load 5 of my favorites and sit back and enjoy for hours!!!

It appears this product was defective. I tried changing several HDMI cables but it was no use. I wrote 3 emails to Brandbargains thru Amazon.com. There was no response from the seller. I will not buy another product supplied by Brandbargain. I requested a full refund within 7 days as per their policy. Yet no response was received. I just processed an A to Z claim through Amazon.com. Until this claim is processed in 14 days or so, my money will remain tied up.

I have not used this CD/DVD player much except to play music. Works great in that department. It may be a while before I try a DVD as I have another unit for that job.
