Good headset (eventually)...and how to get support!!!

(3 out of 5) by Lawrence D. Lowe III on Feb 26, 2009 (Louisville, KY USA)
If you read all the reviews for this headset, you'd think it's a crap shoot as to whether or not you are going to get a good headset. Truth is, it is. Three of us at my company purchased this headset. Within the first week people started complaining that my voice sounded garbled, in a digital kind of way. My co-worker's headset started acting up after a few months. After a lot of searching I found out how to reach customer support and I got a replacement headset. That headset has been working wonderfully for the last several weeks, and I can say that I am happy. I'm not sure if I'll stay happy for a long time, but right now this product works well for what I need. I wasn't able to find another product that so closely matched my needs.

If you have one of these and need support, here's what you do...

1) Go to http://www.instoreshop.com/support
2) Under Contact click E-Ticket system
3) Submit a ticket with your issue
4) Wait a couple days

After I got in touch with them I asked about the warranty. They indicated that the product has a two year warranty. That's a pretty good warranty. Tell's me they have more confidence in the product than I do. After a couple emails back and forth and a scanned copy of my Amazon purchase receipt, a brand new headset showed up in about 3 days. Odd thing is that they gave no instructions and made no request to return the faulty headset.

If you decide to take a chance on this headset and manage to get lucky, you'll be glad that you did. If not so lucky....well that's what the support directions above are for. Good luck!

Love the headset

I am very happy with this purchase. I use it with Skype primarily, though I also listen to some MP3 on my computer with it. I travelled abroad right after getting it, and I liked being able to walk away from my computer (which was in a room with a number of people) and find a nook where I could talk with my family. The sound is very clear, and the people listening on the other end got a very clear sound, too.

FreeTalk Heratset is a very good product

(4 out of 5) by NewCo Builder on Dec 31, 2008
--- Owned: ~5 weeks
--- Likes:
1. Exceptionally clear sound
2. Connects easily every time to all PC's I have (4).
3. Long battery life
4. Fairly comfortable for all day use (excellent for short use)
5. Good ergonomic design (on-off, volume controls, etc.).
--- Dislikes:
1. In calls in which there are long periods of no sound input (you are listening to the other person), the FreeTalk goes silent. You can't hear the other person until the device senses a sound again (I tap the mic). I think the device thinks it is no longer being used. In normal conversation, this is not a problem. I cannot figure out why this does not happen when listening to music (no mic at all).
2. On disconnecting the FreeTalk device from the PC, the PC does automatically go back to a default setting (connected speakers in my case). The PC must be reset to a new sound output device.
--- Overall I am getting a second one!

Works great, no issues

(5 out of 5) by J. Duval on Nov 30, 2008 (Daytona Beach, FL)
Headset is comfortable, if a little heavy, but being untethered from your computer makes it worthwhile. Signal was stong, with good audio quality on Skype calls. Range is great, I was able to walk into the kitchen while on a call - over 30 feet away. Past that and it starts breaking up. Battery life is good, I haven't had any issues with the bettery lasting about as long as they promise. I highly recommend this headset for anyone using Skype!

Try to find the company that makes this item

(1 out of 5) by Bat Sands on Feb 3, 2009
Worked great WHEN it worked. It stopped working 8 months after purchase. No warranty information no way to contact the company. Who is the company? No clue from user manual. Research shows that the company is ISS Manufacturing Limited. Can you find that company, showing products, manuals, customer support? I can't. Well, I do know that they are in Chai
Wan Industrial City. My expensive headset goes in the garbage. Don't make the mistake that I did. Buy from a company that actually supports its products.
