Kenwood Excelon X592

(4 out of 5) by J. Cutler on Jan 31, 2009 (Denver, CO)
I Love this stereo!!! It has excellent sound, looks great, and is relatively simple to use. It does have a few more bells & whistles than the average person may need from a stereo. The USB input for ipod and extra AUX input have great sound quality. My only gripe is that it is a little bright at night for my liking.

excellent excelon

Ordered this product for my tacoma and am very happy with it. Installation took me about 30 minutes from the time I opened the box untill I had it playing my tunes. Very detailed directions included too (crutchfield might have had something to do with that since they were the sender). The soft blue illumination is very pleasant even at night and I havent found it to be distracting at all. The control knob on the right isn't as difficult to use as I had heard, though it does take some getting used to have to press it square on in order to select something. Another feature this thing has that I like is the ATT button. Pressing the ATT button is like turning the volume down quickly instead of just muting it flat. This is nice especially when you want to un-mute because it doesnt blast you in the face.
This unit also has a lot of sound options you can mess around with to make your car sound great. I havent explored these too much since the default settings seem to sound just fine to me.

Great Deal

(5 out of 5) by D. Douglas on Dec 29, 2008
The product came in a timely manner. When it got here, UPS had punched a big hole in the box and messed up the stereo. I let Discount Jungle know and the arranged a pick up and sent out a new one pretty quick. I was very satisfied in the service and the product itself. Maybe after not having a stereo for 3 months, anything sounds good. I forgot to mention the excellent price I got it for. Saved about $100.

Another good mid-level Kenwood product

(5 out of 5) by David A. Edwards on Apr 22, 2008 (Mesquite, TX USA)
This stereo has a display very similar to the X991 of mine. This was quick to install and tune, as it's just Bass, Mid, and Treble, as well as crossovers. The vehicle in question has stock 6x9's in rear, and Pioneer 6.5's in front. The bass, unlike most decks, doesn't distort speakers easily. Thus, though this vehicle has no subwoofers, there is still a bit of low notes on music, at least enough to keep things interesting.

The three line display is beneficial, and is adjustable. The one downside I see is this stereo does not have RDS, which I knew upon purchasing, but is still quite disappointing. It does, however, have CD-text/ID3 tag reading for MP3 CDs/USB.

This stereo is good for all types. I use an X991, basically top of line from 2007, and would definitely use this stereo on a day to day basis. The eXcelon lineup is amazing! I just can't wait to amplify the vehicle this was installed to, to bring out the true Kenwood sound.
