Easy to use

(4 out of 5) by Lori H. Gortner on Sep 24, 2008 (san francisco,)
My only previous experience with an MP3 player has been with Creative Zen. I find this player to be a vast improvement for at least two reasons: 1. I can view the screen in the sun; 2. I can scroll through the options easily.

"I love it"

(4 out of 5) by L. King on Jun 11, 2008 (Califorinia)
This is the first Mp3 player I've ever owned, so I have nothing to compare it to. Having said that, my experience with my first Mp3 player is I love it! I thought it was going to be hard to download music but, it was so easy and fast. Being able to listen to music for hours like that is wonderful! I have no complaints.

Product description

The sansa fuze is a great mp4 easy to use, comfortable in your hand, and has great features:
Music
Audio book
Videos
Photos
Fm radio/ record
Voice record
Date & time
30 languages

The screen is very high quality, colors look vibrant, but unfortunately it's hard to see in bright sunlight.
There are many options to play your music, for example by Artists, by my top rated,
by Albums.
You can watch a slideshow & play your music at the same time.
There are 3 ways to choose a video: alphabetically, my top rated, video bookmarks.
You can also resume playback on a video.
When you record you have to speak loudly, and press the button about 1 second before you actually start recording.
The battery lasts about 24hours when listening to music, if watching videos or looking at pictures the battery lasts 4-5 hours.
I have the sansa fuze for 7months and I'm happy with a lot of the features, for example the sound is very good, and the sansa fuze is thin and comfortable in my hand. But there is one down side the short battery life while watching videos.
All my friends like it, and one liked it so much that he bought it the next week.
Overall it's a great gadget and I would highly recommend the sansa Fuze to anyone looking for a low-cost small media device.

A great player at a great price

(4 out of 5) by M. K. Kohnke on Mar 29, 2009 (Sarasota, Florida)
Overall, this is a great player. If I lost mine today I would definitely buy another one.

PROS:
Removable storage (micro-SD cards) allows endless capacity.
Lots of media types supported.
Each format has many features and search options.
Small (smaller than a credit card).
Large screen with a cool interface.

PRO & CON:
The battery is charged through the included USB cable, which is convenient because it charges as you load new music. The bad part is that if you won't be around a computer for a while (say, on a trip) you'll need to buy an AC charger.

CONS:
After loading new music or changing micro-SD cards it takes several minutes to refresh the media before it can be used.
Micro-SD cards are too small to label and difficult to store.
Minimal instructions included.

To detail the pros and cons above, I love being able to load micro-SD cards to extend the storage. An 8-Gig micro-SD card is about $15.00, and will hold roughly 50 hours (approximately 80 CDs) of music ripped at 256 Kbps. Add to that the two Gigs of internal memory and you easily have over 60 hours of music at any given time. I purchased several Micro-SD cards and load each one with a different genre of music so I can change them with my moods. There are a few drawbacks to the micro-SD cards: They are very small (about the size of a man's fingernail) so they are too small to write on, making them difficult to categorize. Storing them is also tricky, because I have yet to find a case made for storing more than one of them.

The player supports MP3, video, photos, FM radio, and voice recording. You can transfer music to the Sansa using Windows Media Player. Average length songs ripped at 256 kbps will transfer at a rate of about 4 seconds per song. The first time you turn on the Sansa Fuse after transferring data it will take about three minutes to recognize the changes you've made. During this time you can only wait while the screen reads "Refreshing your media." It also does this whenever you change a micro-SD card, even if it's one with no changes that the unit has already read before. Aside from those two situations it "boots up" (ready to play) about eight seconds after turning it on.

To load video onto this you have to use Sansa's converter software (downloadable from their website). It's slow, converting and transferring video in one step at a rate of about 4 seconds per megabyte. The end result is good quality video.

Although you can drag and drop photos using Windows Explorer, it's best to convert them using the Sansa software. Otherwise the picture may stretch and distort to fit the screen's resolution. The Sansa software eliminates this, keeping the picture's dimensions consistent.

When playing music you can sort by artist, album, song, genre, top rated, playlists, podcasts, audiobooks, or recordings.
There are also a lot of customization options for system settings. Too many to list, but among them are pre-set tone settings (jazz, rock, hip-hop, etc.) as well as a built-in equalizer for custom tone settings. There are also adjustments for screen brightness, power-saving modes, even the screen's wallpaper color (no option of changing the wallpaper itself though).

I haven't used the voice recorder yet, so I can't comment on that.

Take that, iPod!

(5 out of 5) by Teymur Guseynov on Mar 20, 2009
What a great gadget! It works very well with Windows Media Player (no drivers needed), and it's pretty easy to use. It's also quite cheap (in my opinion). Awesome buy! Totally recommended.
