If you travel GET ONE..this uses a AAA battery and you can get them around the world! Plays audiobooks, music, carries your data, keeps your reminders in the voice recorder mode, and it fits in your pocket with room to spare!...its so great get one for MOM! I use mine everyday..had it for years and it is going strong! best thing around!
for a few dollars more than a comprable flash drive, its not badd
Considering that the price of this 4GB player is just a few bucks more than a 4GB thumbdrive and you get a pair of cheap headphones and the ability to listen to mp3's, i'd say its a pretty good bargain. The sound quality is slightly better than i expected, so long as you use good headphones instead of the cracker jack ones that are included.
That said, don't expect an iPod like experience, but if you use windows media to manage your library, syncing the device is easy. Overall its a good value for its low price. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a very cheap mp3 player.

It Works!
I bought this for a close friend lives far away. So I got it, I uploaded to it bunch of songs we used to like. First of all this coby looks and feels flimsy not like what you see in the picture, that does not mean it is bad but it just not as shiny and as solid as it looks in the picture. It is pretty easy to add songs to it just like any other flash drive; create folders then drag/drop or copy/paste. The battery seems to have a pretty good life, it did not lose any energy while I am working on it specially with using their own poor batteries so that is a pretty good sign. The biggest problem I found was how to jump from folder to folder specially if you are playing a song in a folder full of many songs. So in order to be able to shift between different folders you will need to be aware of the name of every first song in your every folder, because above this song will be the folder menu which is pretty tricky specially that this coby does not allow you to arrange songs the way you want(as far as I know). As example I named some songs by numbers and put them in this order into the player but they were mostly messed up so be aware of that, plus that the key for jumping between songs if you keep clicking on it, it flies between songs like a rocket which makes it pretty hard for you to know where exactly you are in the list up down in the middle? When I tried to jump to the main menu and choose folders, it does not actually allow you this way to choose between folders"unfortunately" but instead once you click folders it is going to jump to the most recent song you were playing or in other words the most recent folder you were playing some songs from. I hope this helps and I hope that my friend is going to be able to deal with this part specifically.
Does the trick
I agree with the other reviewer, if you think of this as just a mp3 player you'll be confused with all the pre loaded stuff. The my pod thing is cool, you can set it up to automatically subscribe you to podcasts. You can change the back light color and that's cool. The ear buds have a lanyard of sorts you can clip the player to. I've had Colby mp3 players before and I can attest their website is kinda crappy but I hope to never need it. Technically only 3.85 gb with the content that comes on it. I've paid 20 bucks for a 512 mb player before so for the price and the size, worth it.
Unexpected Goodness
I went for a replacement for my lost Apple Shuffle. 15 bucks, 2 gig - I thought this might get me by while I figured out which new shuffle or higher end device to really spend my money on. It sounded as good as my higher end Apple Ipod! (WTH is with that?) I will from now on focus on quality headphones and earbuds instead of the devices so much. Hey it is actually fun to use when you figure it out. I like the idea of being able to change the battery (I keep a rotation with a couple of rechargeables)so I don't have to wait for it to charge I can just go. I am really happy with this product and the price makes me even more so.
