Good for us amateurs
Overall, nice base sound and more than enough power to rattle the windows. Set up was easy, EXCEPT figuring out how to pump the TV Audio thru the home theatre. I had to call Samsung ( on a SUNDAY no less, yes, they do ANSWER!) and they "fixed" my problem in less that 1 minute, VERY impressed with their support.

Good product, but it's true the setup instructions suck.
Okay, in the end I have been very pleased with the quality and sound of this product, but like others have written the book of instructions that are included are terrible. Luckily I was hooking this system up to a Samsung TV (the 46 inch Samsung Touch of Red 650) and it's instruction book had a nicely done section on connecting a home threater system.
In order to connect as easily as possible you will need to buy an Optical Audio cable and an HDMI cable (buy through Amazon and save a lot). I also connected my rear speakers with the wireless Samsung SWA-4000.
Everything works great and the sound quality is excellent for a typical home theater.

Great For The Money
We wanted a Home Theater system that would add to our enjoyment, but not cost a fortune. We have a high end system in another part of the house and just wanted something better than the TV speakers. This system was each to set up and has great sound for an entry level "in the box" system. The BEST thing about this system is that the speaker wire is not prewired with a proprietary clip like most of the other brands we looked at. This means that the thin wire that comes with the system is easily and inexpensively replaced with some good gauge speaker wire for vastly improved sound.
The instructions that come with the system are not very good. It has an iPod doc, but it is really poorly designed. It "takes over" the iPod so it cannot be controlled manually and the options through Samsung are limited and not very flexible. But if you just want to put it on and play, the sound is good.
The upconvert on the DVD player is very good. They don't look like Blu-ray, but they look much better than in our old $19 dvd player. :) The 5 disc changer design seems pretty solid. The tray comes our just part way, and then rotates so all the DVDs can be inserted. This seems more stable that the tray that comes all the way out on some models.
There are a number of sound modes (music, cinema, prologic, matrix, etc) that really do make a difference and can give you optimum sound for different types of media (music, tv, movie, etc). The remote is easy to use and it seems everything can also be performed directly on the unit. This is personally important to me because the remotes get misplaced often and I like being able to start a movie for my kids while I search (rather than while they whine at me that they want to watch a movie as I'm looking :))
Overall I'm very please with this purchase. It does what it says it will do for a decent price.

Good System for the Money.
I purchased this product not knowing what to expect. When I recieved it the foam protecting the speakers and recieveer unit was pretty mangled, but this is my only complaint. The system itself has worked without a problem and I really enjoy it for a mid level home theater. The Ipod dock works great and yes, it is alphabetized but you can scroll by album, artist, and song. If you do decide to purchase and are planning on using a cable box/reciever/HDTV all together, save yourself some time and purchase the HDMI and Toslink Digital Optical cables at the same time. I have a Samsung LN46A650 HDTV and the Anynet+ feature allows all Samsung products to work together flawlessly. It's a great feature. I am happy with the system for the money and do recommend it if searching for a nice home theater system that includes the Ipod dock, works with a digital cable box and sounds great.

OK for the price
We bought this system because we needed some kind of DVD player and a new music system (Old ones were broken)to go with our new Samsung LCD TV. We had no interest in going to an expensive, high end prduct because our sound quality standards just aren't that high. We did only a little research because we needed something soon, and really didn't even know all the right questions to ask.
Upside, it all works, and the sound is quite nice, even though we don't have the speakers ideally placed due to idiosyncracies of our livingroom. Also, the new equipment takes up a lot less room than our very old music system and dvd player, so it looks much nicer.
Downside, reading through the directions, we could make no sense of how to hook it up to the TV. Luckily, our tech-savy son was able to easily get it all together without looking at the directions at all, although it did require purchasing some additional cable because he said the speaker cable supplied was not robust enough for it's purpose, and we needed an audio optical cable that was not supplied.
We have not figured out how to make any of the three remotes (sound sytem, TV, or Cable) "Universal". Hope that will come with time. At the moment, we are content we can make things work using all three.
