I didn't have the manual or PC link software, so got that from RCA website (I googled "rca rp5120," and it got me there after a couple of clicks). I downloaded the instruction manual and PC software.
With the manual, the features were easy to learn. I like the slow play back option because it allows me to transcribe my recordings if needed.
I have been saving the audio files on my PC. They are .VOC files, which don't play in windows media player, but play back with the software from the RCA website. The bonus is how little space they use with standard play (I guess I should have known since 256MB gets 105 hours or so).
So far I haven't had the problems of remnant files, which are mentioned in some of the other reviews. I also have found the audio quality good enough for my purposes. I mostly dictate, and if I use headphones to listen, the playback is quite good.

I've spent the best part of a week working on it; reformatting it more than once, to no avail.
Please write me as to how I can either get a replacement recorder that will work, or a refund credit so I can buy another recorder.
Also, tell me where to return this unit.
