Gets the job done

(4 out of 5) by Ms. Upnorth on Feb 4, 2009 (Fairbanks, Alaska)
Sure, there are better quality digital recorders out there, but this one adequately gets the job done. I picked it up because it was one of two options available and the other one was much more expensive. I took it to class, put it on conference mode, placed it on my desk in the front row and the recording came out loud and clear. And better yet, that last lecture makes more sense than it did the first time!

Had I invested more, I would expect more controls and more features, perhaps a body that doesn't feel cheap... but nevertheless, it makes a decent recording and gets the job done.

Yuck

(2 out of 5) by Wyatt9toes on Jan 24, 2009
I would definately not recommend. I've had nothing but trouble with my unit. It is brand new and I am already shopping for a replacement. The owner's manual and RCA website offers no solution to my woes.

Nice Little Recorder

(4 out of 5) by RRP on Dec 17, 2008 (Monroeville, NJ)
Great Little Recorder for the most part. Have had some trouble with error messages stating "bad file format" without any further explanation. When this message appears, you can listen to the recording on the tape player, but can not transfer it to your computer. As far as I have been able to see, there is no information on this problem available.

Too complicated, will not play MP3

(1 out of 5) by David Morley on Feb 9, 2009 (colorado)
This product is too feature-ridden for my tastes. Every time I use it I've got to re-read the manual. What should be so difficult about a voice recorder, I don't understand.

Also, the files are of type VOC. What's that? I had to look all over the internet for an application that would change a .VOC file to something that my system recognizes like .MP3.

This product will not replace your MP3-player, at least not easily.

Useable, Just not good enough

(2 out of 5) by C. Hazan on Jun 21, 2008 (Pennsylvania)
I tried to use this for a class to record group discussions. The background noise was very loud and the voices were difficult to understand. I returned this and bought a Sony recorder, ICD-B600, which was clearer and easier to listen to.
