Great stereo for great price

(5 out of 5) by C. Kroll on Mar 27, 2008
I hooked up a "video visor" to this thing and I can now watch DVDs in my car and listen to MP3 DVDs. Very cool. Also, I like how it is very "descreet" because it doesn't look as cool and powerful as it really is.

Got this to plug in my Ipod video

(4 out of 5) by tabitha Antonio on Aug 1, 2007 (sturbridge, ma United States)
I like all the features of this radio and it looks slick. I have it hooked to two new yamaha indoor/outoor speakers on my golf cart. It was easy to wire and sounds excellent. has the usual eq settings for rock, pop, jazz and line.
I plugged my Ipod video into the usb on the front. even though it played I had trouble selecting any songs that I wanted. It overrides the Ipod functions so that the ipod becomes useless. What I ended up doing was running a cable from the audio inputs on the back of the radio to the 1/8" jack on the ipod. still can use the ipod then. just ordered a cable from amazon that plugs into the ipod multiport jack and has rca outputs on the other end.
haven't hooked a monitor to it yet but soon...

Awesome receiver

(5 out of 5) by Andrew B. Hopper on Jan 24, 2007 (Chanhassen, MN)
With this receiver you get great sound quality and lots of function for the price. Imagine having more than 1000 songs on a single removable media! Incredible flexibility and many outputs and inputs for any conceivable configuration. The panel-mounted USB port is extremely convenient. The only significant negative is that each time the receiver is powered on it takes a while for the receiver to compile the track list. And, while I like the colorful lighted panel, I'd prefer one in which the clock is always visible (i.e., when the receiver is off). Also, the Display and Band toggle buttons are a little too small and at awkward locations. I highly recommend this product.

Plain Awesome

(5 out of 5) by Bill on Dec 28, 2006 (Oregon)
JVC really put a lot more effort into functionality versus form, on this one. Not the flashiest unit on the market but that makes it less attractive to thieves, if anything.

By not adding all that expensive(but generally useless) bling, they were able to include features found on head units many times the cost of this one.

It uses older, time tested, engineering as opposed to the newer, more delicate types w/ internal motorized monitors, thereby avoiding premature the mechanical failure some are prone to.

Just add your own monitor. I picked up a Lasonic 8.1" 480p LCD TV for less than $100. The addition of a monitor gives you a more comprehensive list of the massive amount of content you can store on a DVD (meaning virtually any kind of DVD except DVD-RAM)or FAT32 USB key up to 4GB. Who else has USB?

Fuctional and feature packed

(5 out of 5) by J. James on Dec 11, 2006
At first you may be discouraged to buy this unit, that is if your interested on the looks, the OSD is simple but easy to use but if you're not using a separate monitor there is not really nothing much to look at, thought the head unit is very sleek and elegant. But if you want a feature packed unit that it's powerful and very practical than this one is for you. Just consider what's important to you: An all-in-one solution or a pretty jewel that does nothing.
