Cool product, but not what I thought it would be.

I bought this so I could monitor the walkie talkie while listening to the radio, but you cant do both at the same time, bummer.

Awesome radio

(5 out of 5) by J. W. Comish on Dec 21, 2008 (Columbia, MD)
I purchased this product to serve multiple functions and it does them all well. I can not rate the cell phone charger function as I have not tested it yet - but given the generator charges the internal battery - it should work just fine in a pinch. The GMRS radio was the primary draw for me to this unit for general purpose use and use in an emergency. I have other hand held GMRS radios( Midland and Standard Horizon ) that work very well with this radio. The FM radio also works well as does the weather radio and alert function. I use the radio with external mikes and headsets with no problems. Five stars.

Needs revision

(4 out of 5) by Ronald A. Lamascus on May 30, 2008 (Chambersburg)
Just got my FR1000 which seems to be well built and do all the things advertised. I am not sure who wrote the instruction manual but it needs serious revision. Several details either not covered or information given is incorrect. My only complaint at this point is how the heck would you charge a cell phone with this device? While there is a charging port, I have never owned a cell phone that had a plug that would fit the port provided. I hope Eton can shed some light by contacting them. This is truly an "emergency" radio as the sound quality is nothing you would want to listen to for very long!

etón FR1000 Voice Link Survival Radio

(5 out of 5) by Brian M. Hodges on Jun 5, 2009 (Pennsylvania)
Very nice piece of equipment, I was surprised it came with an additional radio. The only thing I don't like is they don't tell you the range of the 2 way radio's. I'm yet to test that out. I've had the Eton FR300 Emergency Radio, for the longest time and still have that next to my bed. But the FR1000 makes a nice addition strapped down to my Polaris Sportsman EFI 800

Does not come with cell phone charging cable

(1 out of 5) by LR on Sep 17, 2008 (Oakland, CA USA)
Right now I am giving this product only one star because it does not arrive with the cell phone charging cable. You have to register with Eton before they will send it to you, and it takes 3-4 weeks. (Luckily I read this information from another purchaser, because the manual that came with the device mentioned nothing about this.) Also I bought two and asked for two cables and Eton sent me only one. It's disappointing because I had an Eton from about 5 years ago that came with a bunch of charging cables. This new policy of theirs is ridiculous. As for how it performs, now that I finally have the cable I can try out all the features and perhaps update this review.
