Bought this for my daughter for her birthday. She loves it. Its something she uses when we're on the road. Picture is great and excellent quality. Not bad for the price.

Tablet style DVD player

(3 out of 5) by Sandy on Apr 5, 2009
There are a few things I noticed when I finally started to use this for our trip. It does not have very good instructions. I even went online to find out how to use it and I cannot find much. That is the worst part for me. There are lots of cords and plugs but I am not sure what to do with most of them. Also the headphones fall down and are very weird as you wear them on the back of your head and I can't keep them on my ears. I also can't figure out how to play the DVD through the car audio system. I would do ok if I just had better instructions! And I assume you have to charge up the batteries as there are rechargable batteries in it but I am not really sure how to do that. So trial and error I am afraid.

5 STAR PLUS +++

AWESOME PRODUCT

For the price this little 'coby' unit is Fantastic.
-Great Picture
-Comes with all sorts of attachments, adapters, headphones, carry case. I wasn't looking for anything extra, but with all the extra's included, I think I will find even more uses for this unit.
-Virtually no set up required
-I GOT IT MAINLY FOR THE "VIDEO IN" OPTION (not common on most players) - I AM ABLE TO WATCH MY DirecTV (and old VCR's if I wanted to) on this nice little screen sitting next to my computer. It needs to be attached with cord, but I can move it around depending on whatever part of the house I am in without having to run back and check out what in playing in the background on TV that caught my attention.
- DVD player is fine (I have given up on DVD expectations other than it works and does not skip all the time. No problems so far.) The only DVD issue one might have is that you really need to use the remote to control the DVD and the remote itself is compact (as it should be) so FF/REV SKIP etc. are not as ergonomic as most and kind needs to be looked at before pressing to make sure you got the correct button - if you are a 'blind-remote-surfer' type, it might be frustrating.

The only sort-of con is the TABLET format. It stands fine and is usually a good angle for viewing, but it can not be quickly and easily angled forwards or backwards like a player that has a more laptop open screen configuration. I am the type who seems to be constantly pushing my laptop screen front and back to get a more clear view (I guess I move around a lot) and notice I can't do the same with the tablet DVD player. Still would choose this over anything else I've seen for sale.

note: I don't know what the 'silver' is referring to, but my order said 'silver' and it arrived exactly like the picture. All Black around the screen and the lower portion that is set back (where the speakers are located) is off white. The only thing 'silver' is the four buttons and directional selector on the front. Looks good.

Great quality - very good picture - would buy again

We bought this for a vacation trip - we have an earlier version of the same brand and were very happy with it. We now have two children and needed a second dvd player for the car. We like the tablet style so we can hang it on the back of the seats AND still have the ability to take it into the hotel, etc and watch movies. As we researched the models and prices, this was a great fit - a really good value. It has great picture quality, it's very easy to use, AND everything you need is included right with it.

Nice little unit

(5 out of 5) by J. King on Mar 20, 2009 (Ohio, USA)
This DVD player is a steal for the price. The accessories that come with it are unreal. The onboard speakers aren't that great, so I've been using it with headphones. I mainly have been using it on the treadmill. The only issue I have which is not the fault of the player is the screen size; it's too small for my use! Therefore I'll have to return it for a larger screen size and I'll have to go with Philips.

I wish Coby made the same unit a little larger, because it's simply an excellent DVD player with decent resolution. For the price, it can't be beat!
