My expectation was that the interface for both the DVD and VCR would be digital; that is, both would connect via an HDMI cable. That is not the case, however. There is an HDMI connection for the DVD, but the VCR must be connected through the same old composite video interface. There is only one such input on my new Samsung TV, however, although there are four HDMI inputs.

That said, the picture quality is very good, the price is certainly competitive, and I am otherwise pleased with the combo.

This product is well worth the price. The picture and sound quality are great. The only negatives I have found are the small stuff. Mine doesn't keep time. If I record something it does something to the clock to throw it off time. The menu controls are very sluggish in responding. When selecting "menu" to do any of the programing functions it takes quite a while for the menu to come up and every selection you make after that takes a few seconds to register/respond. Other than that I really like the unit, saves lots of space and output quality is great. I'm a big fan of Samsung electronics.

I'm not an expert on the subject as this is my first device of this kind. I still have an extensive VHS collection but have built a DVD library as well. I wanted one unit to play them both but have the best viewing quality. With my HDTV, viewing quality is great! Player is plain without any show but it does it's job well. Connectivity is easy, menu options are easy to understand and operate. Great product.

Samsung DVD/VCR combo.I purchased itfor my daughter in Spokane.It arrived in good condition and in a speedy manner.She loves it and has had no trouble with it at all.

I purchased this unit to replace another combo unit. I bought it because it accommodated my existing electronic setup (digital sound, composite video). After plugging everything in, my only problem was to setup the video and sound properly thru the menu. Once done, everything has worked to my satisfaction.
