18 miles
When I search for a product to be used in my farm and I saw 18 miles range I bought it, but unfortunately didn't work as expected at the low end of 1 mile but with a decline of 300 ft.
Disappointed

Good Product
Have not had a single problem with this as of yet. Do wish that the weather channel function worked a little bit better in my area, but that's because I'm out in nowhere's ville. Also wish that there was a smart recharge function with these devices, as they need to be taken off charger after 18 hours... But overall good product.

Not Durable
I purchased six of these radios for use by my staff. The rubber seal suurrounding the front window pulls out easily. Buttons aren't shielded from accidental pushing. Battery charge is poor (less than four hours).
Lots of features , smaller antennas, won't break the bank
I ended up buying Motorola's for the sole reason that they have a tie in point at the top of each radio to attach a piece of cord. All of the other models seem to have some plastic based belt clip or something. I rock climb with mine and need to attach them to a carabiner and know for SURE that they will not come loose or snap off.
There were some radios that claim higher power rating and longer range and I have not tested these to see what the max range is, but they perform well for what I use them for. The dual battery compatibility is nice in case I need to swap out the rechargeables for a longer climb. My only gripe is that the volume knob is easy to accidentally change. Otherwise, they are feature rich and smaller than some of the others, including some other Motorola models with really long antennas.

Great for The Parks
This has been a life saver a few times with the tweens at the parks like Hershey and Disney. Cheaper than a cell phone.
