Green backpack a great fit for casual office/17" notebook.

(5 out of 5) by Lauren Rae Brimmer on May 17, 2008 (Fallbrook, CA USA)
At about 11 pounds (5kg) a 17" Notebook and gear can add up to a pain in the....back. Consequently, I had my heart set on a backpack to balance the load. After two unsuccessful tries with other bags, this casual canvas number caught my eye. This one is lightweight, yet seems extremely durable (I've had it almost one month at this writing).
One note: the color is a more subtle, duskier, more olive green than either my home or work computer monitors display....but that was a good thing for me. The screened pattern is also more subtle and adds a touch of contemporary style that further differentiates this bag from the pack of unimpressive nylon bags that make up the bulk of offerings in this price range.
Most important, my notebook fits perfectly in an appropriately protected space that's just right for my HP dv9700. A 15.4" screen would likely be right at home too, though I notice several backpack sizes are available.
Both shoulder straps and flap are highly adjustable to ensure a comfortable carry.
Zippered pockets are convenient and well positioned with one outside on the flap, and two more under the flap. I had no trouble fitting accessories such as power adaptors, with room to spare for the vintage paper binder I often carry.
Overall, this case easily exceeded my expectations. Not sure I'd carry it when wearing a suit, but it's perfect for the 99.5% of the time when I don't. Would buy again, and recommend strongly, especialy to beer drinkers, who will find the built in bottle opener very handy.

When there are no parking spots at school I can just chuck my car into this bag.

I found this case at the end of a long search for a durable, budget-priced bag that would hold my gigantic laptop with room for my textbooks and notepads. This bag definitely fits the bill. Listen, this thing is titanic. I mean monstrously, stupendously big. I'm afraid to leave my computer in it for long periods of time because I'm worried the bag might eat it. If you put a regular 15-inch laptop in this behemoth it's going to be rattling around in there all unprotected-like, so those who don't own 17-inchers might want to consider this similar bag, also by Caselogic.

There are four extra compartments on the bag, including an external pouch on the flap where you can put your power brick. My only complaint is that there are no "organizer" pockets except one space for an ID badge or credit card. Pens, flash drives, chapstick and other small items will be forever lost in this bag if you don't use some sort of pencil case to keep them together.

The bottle opener is effective and classy; you would not necessarily surmise its true purpose at first glance. So far I haven't used it, since I don't often find myself needing to open bottles on campus, but I eagerly await the day that someone says, "I can't open this beer" and I'll get to reply, "here, use my backpack."

The bottom line is that this bag is probably the most durable, attractive and comfortable thing you will find to schlep your impractically huge computer around campus in, at least in this price bracket. It's probably going to outlast your laptop, it's big enough to use as an overnight bag, and it opens bottles (just think how much you'll save on dental work). Come on.

Great Laptop Backpack!

(5 out of 5) by P. McGuire on Sep 9, 2008 (USA, California)
With college starting, I wanted some safe way to transport my new Dell Latitude D830 to classes. I didn't want to carry my laptop bag AND a backpack so off it was to Amazon.com to check out all the laptop backpacks. Most of the backpacks were big camper bags or just not to my liking due to the way they were designed. Most were way too expensive and I only carry 2-3 books at most.

This backpack came up after about 1-2 hours of searching. Although the low price worried me, now that I've had it for over a month (using it 2 times a week) - I would get this over and over.

The backpack is nice, simple, comfortable, and perfect. The laptop portion is plenty big for my 15.4 D830 and could easy fit some serious sized 17 inch laptops. You can put the power supply in a compartment outside the backpack (under the flap). It has 2 of these compartments so you can put your cell phone/wallet in one and still have plenty of room. You have room for about 4-5 medium sized books that sit between the laptop and you. Also, This backpack is fairly large (I'm around 6ft with a bigger than average chest size) which is a good thing for me but smaller people might not like that. The backpack is well built, very solid feeling, and no worries about quality or something breaking in the future. It has a bluejean toughness to the fabric. I really like the quality - something I was initially worried about with the low cost.

Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a well built laptop backpack for college.

A sturdy Backpack for an excellent price.

(5 out of 5) by Kenneth Petit on Sep 3, 2009 (New Orleans)
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2T24SEUAMGL38 This backpack is very sturdy and well built for the price. I can fit 2 small textbooks, one 1/2in binder and one 2in binder. There are 4 other zipper pouches, two on the front, one on the front flap, and one on the back. It fit my 17in 2in wide laptop along witht the before mentioned items. If the laptop wasn't in there then it could hold more...maybe 2 more textbooks.

Great Bag!

(4 out of 5) by K. Orlando on Sep 17, 2008
I have a 17" Dell laptop and had a hard time finding an affordable yet attractive backpack to hold it. I searched for bags all over the internet and found the Caselogic to have the best reviews. I ordered it off of Amazon because it was the cheapest. I received it quickly and am so happy with it. Not only is it cute, but my laptop fits perfectly and there is still room for books, notebooks, and cords. It is a big bag, but very comfortable.
