Great entry level receiver!!

(5 out of 5) by Scott M. Harrington on Apr 24, 2008 (Vegas!!)
Well, this is my first Yamaha receiver and I am impressed! My 5 year old Onkyo was getting outdated, so I moved it to the bedroom and picked up this Yamaha RX-363 for $188 at BB (Reward Zone 10% coupon). I am very pleased with the sound quality & clarity! It plays ipod/MP3 thru the front jack (just get a simple $5.99 cable) OR you can go all out and buy the optional Bluetooth Yamaha ipod cradle ($99) and work the ipod thru the remote. Overall, this is a GREAT entry-level receiver that has the new HDMI pass-thru technology (still need an optical/coax audio cable) AND it plays your ipod/MP3!! 100 watts x 5 channels is perfect for a medium size room (might be too much for a small room and maybe not quite enough power for HUGE rooms).
Hook up was pretty straight forward, owners manual was clear, and the functions/settings are endless!! This receiver can do it all! Pick it up. You will be very happy!!

Pretty decent for a limited budget

(4 out of 5) by L. Waldner on Apr 19, 2008 (Duluth)
I was initially considering the Onkyo TX-SR605 because it is capable of processing HDMI audio. Unfortunately the budget was a bit to tight for that so I decided to settle on this receiver. I was hoping I would be able to connect various game consoles and my DVD player using component cables and output the video via the HDMI port but it does not convert the signals. The sound is very nice with my old speakers. I am still waiting for the Yamaha NS-SP1600 speaker set to arrive, I think that will be a huge improvement over what I have connected now (right now my center channel is a torn speaker I pulled out of my car a few years ago;). For the price I think this is a lot more versatile than most home theater in a box setups.

Good value, decent features and performance

(5 out of 5) by Richard Cohen on Nov 29, 2008 (Big Island, HI USA)
Suitable for use with similarly priced speakers and other components. Sounds good. We use it in my son's room with Bic Venturi speakers and JBL subwoofer and it rocks the house. Access to secondary features is kind of obscure, don't loose that remote. Looks good. Seems well made.

Great Budget Receiver

(5 out of 5) by M. Quon on Jul 28, 2008 (Texas)
I purchased the RX-V363BL as a replacement for an older Yamaha HTIB that I've been using for several years. The feature set is great for the money, and it doesn't really bother me that the HDMI output doesn't pass audio along with the video signal. The whole reason I am using the receiver is to play the audio and to pass the video to my TV via HDMI. I haven't experienced any audio desynchronization, but I am using the optical audio inputs coupled with HDMI video inputs from both a cable box and a HTPC.

The Yamaha remote is very well laid out, and it has allowed me to retire my Samsung TV remote completely. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase; I encountered zero issues setting up the receiver, though I did have to spend a bit of time with the manual to get the Scene buttons programmed to my preferred presets.

Great

(5 out of 5) by JOSE CARRASCO MORENO on May 28, 2008
This is the best buy I had at Amazon. The delivery was super fast. The equipment is excellent; it offers two digital inputs and two HDMI inputs for connecting the latest devices.

I bought it on a great deal, the device actually cost me only $158.00, because it includes the IPOD kit at $41.00.

I highly recommend it for the budget customer, don't waste money on more expensive units, this one has great features.
