Coming from someone whose friends call her "Gidget Gadget," take my word on it, this is the best investment I have ever made! This is a very useful tool. I can do EVERYTHING on my Redfly that I do on my Treo 800w. I recall feeling very upset that Palm scrapped the idea of the Foleo because I knew I could make use of it and was so looking forward to it then here comes Celio with the Redfly! This is the next best thing to whole grain bread! Thanks Celio!!!!
Great Product!!
I think this is a really great product. I had been wanting something like this for quite awhile. I travel a lot for work and there are many times that I really don't need to bring my laptop and although my win-mo device would be enough, the limitations of the phone's screen size & keyboard would require me to bring the full laptop. The Redfly solves this problem. On domestic flights, sitting in Coach, it's difficult to open a laptop on the tray table, but the redfly doesn't have that challenge.
Also, there are times on the weekend where I may want to sit down in a coffee shop, write emails, & look at a few spreadsheets. I don't want to have to lug a laptop and a knapsack and I can just place the redfly into my small gym bag. It's also great that the battery life is 8 hours..far more than my laptop would ever bring.
On personal trips, it's also great to bring for light work. The "instant on" is also a wonderful feature.

Harness the full power of your smartphone!
This thing really is incredible. The first thing that struck me is how solid the build quality is. It feels more sturdy than my Dell laptop. I could not believe how easy it was to get up and running. Took me all of 5 minutes. I have been using it with GoToMyPC and it works perfectly. So many of my Windows Mobile applications are much easier to use on the redfly. I could go on and on but you get the idea.:-)

I have needed one of these for a long time....
This device has replaced my UMPC and laptop for most things. I'll still use them for programs that require a "real" PC. But for the day to day things like email, web browsing, maps & directions, some Word & Excel stuff, and taking meeting notes the Redfly has been able to allow me to use my phone as a portable computing device.
It's small size is perfect, even though I have large hands I'm not having trouble with the keyboard. And I really like that it weighs less than my UMPC! It became tiresome to hold and use the UMPC for any length of time. In that regard the Redfly is superior.
I've used it in the car (for maps), at meetings, in the airport & on the plane. Since I've gotten it I tend to take it with me when I wouldn't bring the UMPC or laptop.
In technical terms it "extends" the display of the WM 5/6 phone. Most programs that run on the phone adapt well to the larger display. However, some do not. It's not the fault of the Redfly, it's due to the programs inability to detect the extent of the display area. My hope is that the Redfly obtains a large enough user base so that WM software authors take notice and will take advantage of the larger display area.
Other things to note (my phone is an AT&T Tilt) are problems that occur due to the limitations of the phone. For example, if you're using a bluetooth headset with your phone and then expect to connect the Redfly via bluetooth as well there's a possibilty that it won't work. The easy solution is to connect the phone via USB. I've used it that way and have been pleased with it. In additon some WM software (Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta for example) may not work at all with the larger display area. Again, I don't beleive that's the fault of the Redfly.
The day it arrived I showed to my wife who also has a WM phone. Guess what? Yep, I bought one for her also. She travels on business and could use the Redfly not only for traveling, the uses I've mentioned above also apply to her. In additon to the size and larger display of the Redfly the key selling points to her (and myself) are - it can charge the phone via USB, it has bluetooth, the phone can access USB 'thumb' drives via the Redfly's USB, the "instant on", and it's darn handy to have.
To accompany your Redfly (I'm assuiming you'll get one to) I recommend a mini-USB mouse with a retracable cord and a case or padded sleeve. I bought a Tucano 9 / 10" case for it and the fit is perfect. There's even just enough room to put a USB cable in the sleeve along with the Redfly. And if you spend a measurable amount of time in the car I also recommend the car charger.
