Works just like more expensive products and costs half as much. Great product I can't live without.
USB Extender Using Cat 5e Cable
So far I've only used this USB extender on a 50 foot Cat 5e cable and it works very well.
One thing that I wish the companies making this type of extender would explain to people is that it does not use TCP/IP protocol and the Cat 5e cable between the two units ('sender' and 'receiver') must only be connected to each other; there must not be any connection to normal Ethernet circuits (routers, switches, etc.).
You can get hardware that will encapsulate USB data into the Ethernet protocol but they typically cost quite a bit of money.
This is a very convenient device to have.

Works just like the expensive ones!
I'm a professional camgirl and had been told I needed one of these usb/cat5 extenders to get my cameras to have more cord length so I can mount them around the room and whatnot. I was really skeptical when I saw how cheap these were, because all the others I'd been referred to were $100 to $150 each. I just received everything, plugged it all in (didn't even need the included directions, was all clearly labelled and obvious as to what goes where), plugged in my own spare cat5 cable (not included), and it works perfectly without even restarting my computer or anything. These are awesome, I'll never buy the expensive ones again! I can't believe i was wasting $100 MORE a pop when I got the same thing for so much less! By the way, this is currently working fine on my Logitech Quickcam 5000's and 4000's, and isn't choppy or slow or anything. :)
