Great, unless...

(3 out of 5) by Mister Mitchell on Jul 1, 2009 (Biloxi, Mississippi)
So, on a desktop computer, this thing works well.

Notice I say desktop.

On my laptop... nothing. The "Found New Hardware" wizard pops up over and over again, looking for any kind of software for the player. But that's the thing. It's not supposed to come with any software. I called technical support. They told me I'm not the first to have this problem, but there's nothing I can do except try a desktop.

I won't have my desktop with me when I go off to college, but I do have one here, and I've had to resort to filling it with music now.

With that irritation aside, this little thing really does work well on my desktop computer. I added and deleted music a few times, never with any problems. The sound quality is good, the FM radio is good, the display is good. What I really like is you can access your folders on the player itself and delete entire collections of music without having to plug into a USB drive. The only real fault of the package is the set of earbuds, which don't come with any kind of padding and aren't very comfortable. Also, the box advertises 50 free songs plus 1 free audiobook when you visit an eMusic site, but there's a catch: You have to sign up for a subscription.

All in all, a good player. Just know there's a chance your laptop may have no clue what to do with this thing.

(My laptop uses Windows XP, Service Pack 3)

It plays MP3s.

(3 out of 5) by Josh Poage on Jan 4, 2009 (Austin, TX)
This is not a bad mp3 player. It's small, it takes a single AAA battery, and it plays MP3s. THe single huge drawback that I've found, is that you can't do an album-level (as defined by directories containing MP3s, or by tags) search (at least not that I've discovered). Everything is at the file level. This might be ok for a CD with 10 tracks, but when you put two audiobooks on here with 200-odd files each, getting to the beginning of the second audiobook is an exercise in frustration. Also, it doesn't always seem to play the files in order.

happy

I have really enjoyed using the device an hope for many more good times it is small an fits my busy life style. Have only had time to download a few songs, but so far that has been great.

A great value for a low price

I love this mp3 player. Sound quality is great and you don't need a special cable to hook up with your PC to transfer music. Selecting music folders, however, takes some getting used to. In my case there was a short learning curve as my previous player was super easy to select music on the go. I like the fact that it includes an FM radio.
