not great for audiobooks
The player works fine for music, but I primarily bought it to listen to audio books. It freezes up and you have to sometimes take out the battery to get it going again. Also, the fast forward function isn't very fast. I guess it's worth the price.

Great Product For The Money
I have several MP3 players and for the money this rocks. It has great controls and is very easy to use. I would absolutely recommend for purchase.

Excellent for the price
I bought this player for 24$, and for the price is a very good deal.
It works as advertised, and for me is particularly useful that it is powered by 1 AAA battery, meaning that when the power is over, you just change the battery and do not depend on chargers. Battery life is about 12 hours with rechargeable 900mAh batteries.
The size is convenient although it is not slik, small or fancy. But is light, so it is good for sports. As with other mp3 players, the headphones are crab, so get a set of good ones.
Caveats: it says uses USB2 speed, but it seems that it is really USB1, and takes much longer than other players to upload-download files.
Also, do not support folder organizer, so all files are listed as single files.

Avoid if you want to use it for AudioBooks
The device is functional for MP3 songs, not great, but OK. The construction feels cheap, but then again, it is cheap... a 2GB for under $20 in Sept 09 is a bargain. The price is the reason I bought the unit. All I wanted was a device to listen to audiobooks when I am on traveling. But for audiobooks there is a serious problem... the unit will not play audiobooks... at least those from my public library. This Coby is not compatible, for some unknown reason with audiobooks. I tried to find out if there was a solution and I called Coby's "support 800 number" well, their tech support is on the cheap too. I waited 51 minutes to hookup with Coby tech support... 51 minutes! Thankfully, I have a speaker phone. When I finally connected with tech, I was told that SOME Cobys have problems in this area and I needed to get a program to remove the DRM (Digital Rights Management)... what, for a public, legal, library download, Nah. If all you want is to put some songs on this Coby, well it could be OK, but for those that want audiobooks, AVOID this Coby. Conditionally recommended.

Cannot create playlists
I like the 2 GB size and the FM radio. Also for $20, not a bad deal. The manual does not address how to create playlists. I have created a couple in Windows Media Player and saved them to the Colby, but it does not seem to recognize them. Also no shuffle feature. So...you can add 200+ songs to this thing, but you must listen to them in alphabetical order according to how you label the MP3 files. Please feel free to leave a comment to this review if I am missing something. All in all, it's worth the $20 but it does have it's limitations.
