Does a good job
I bought this HD tuner to go with the Pioneer DEH-3000IB head unit. I expected to lose all analog signal completely. I was pleasantly surprised! Not only am I getting all available HD stations, but am getting great analog reception as well(even without a splitter and manually switching signal mode). This was well worth the price of admission. Stations coming in HD sound incredible! I can't wait for some other local stations to get on board (and they've told me that they are soon). Easy to install and compact enough to fit easily inside the dash or out of the way with the provided velcro strips. The ibus cable and the power wires are sufficiently long to support an installation that can't be done near the head unit. TV is making the "big switch" and radio just got better.
so so in the boonies
I purchased this along with a Pioneer DEH-P4100UB head unit from Crutchfield. They had a great rebate program and I got the HD tuner for about $20. Installation was very easy. I ended up with a ton of extra cable, but that would be good if you had to mount the unit in the trunk or something. The interface between the external HD radio and the headunit is not very easy to use. I don't like it, but my wife HATES it. The worst part is, I blame my location, is that the signal fades in and out A LOT, so sound quality ranges from very good to very poor almost constantly. That is VERY annoying. I plan to disconnect the HD tuner but leave it installed because we plan to move before too long. Hopefully reception will be better when we move. I do like that I get song titles, artists, and radio station names, but I'm glad I only paid $20 for it.
works well with avic-d3 but...
I got this for my Avic D3, but you have to get the y-adapter for the antenna because I lost the AM/FM from the analog side.
Nearly excellent
The P10HD is a great tuner. I bought it with a splitter so that I could get analog FM, too--not knowing that the HD tuner could also bring in analog radio. In fact, it brings it in even better than the built-in tuner on my F90BT--with a brighter sound. I don't even use the built-in tuner anymore. As you drive and a station goes in and out of digital HD, the transition is smooth, but you can certainly hear the difference in quality. AM channels are ridiculously clear.
I think it should cost quite a bit less, though.
I swapped out my headunit for another F90BT (the first one had a bad harness) and found that my radio station presets carried over, which was nice.

GREAT ADDITION EASY TO INSTALL
This unit solved all my AM radio problems. The sound is just as advetised and FM is even better.
Once you figure out how to remove the dash and radio housing (this is the hard part) the rest is easy. Just hook it up and you are ready to go!
If you are having AM radio problems, this good very well be your solution.
