Works with iPhone 3G

(4 out of 5) by L. Sippel on Aug 21, 2008 (charlotte, NC)
I bought this head unit mostly because I wanted one that would interface well with the iPhone 3G (i.e. provide power AND sound, instead of just using a standard auxiliary jack which also works fine but requires you buy a separate car charger). So far, so good. I do have some gripes with the design of the unit and the menu - but I think just like all things new, it just takes some getting used to. Sounds great with my factory speakers.

Pioneer for use with ipod in car

(4 out of 5) by John M. Cruickshank Owen on Aug 19, 2008 (Barcelona, Spain)
A beautiful machine, the sound is great, masses of options - BUT, BUT, BUT... Pioneer put the controls on a single wheel. You view your options by rotating the wheel and select by pressing right in the center of the wheel. This can be difficult when driving, and you often select something you did not wish to. What a shame the center select is not an independent button! One other thing: although you access your playlists, they do not appear in exactly the same form as on your ipod.

Lived up to expectations!

(5 out of 5) by Joyce Friedrich on Feb 20, 2009
All the reviews that I read said that the sound is the best! They were right! Operating the player is no problem after a short orientation. Only problem we had was that the plastic dash of the truck had to be altered for the player to fit....although Pioneer's said it was compatible. The mp3 format for playing cd's is too cool! Well worth it!

Great receiver

(4 out of 5) by Jay on Jan 25, 2009 (Florida)
A lot of options, easy to navigate once you get used to it, great sound, custom equalizer, works with Ipod flawlessly. I always thought remotes were silly because the radio is at a arms length anyway, but I was wrong and can't live without it now. Nothing more annoying than adjusting your radio and hitting a bump in the road. A remote takes that annoyance away.

From personal experience, and from what I've read, it doesn't seem to work with the smaller USB drives(mine was a 2GB), so I bought a 16GB and it works fine with it.

There's some minor issues with the USB that I've found. The ordering of songs gets mixed up within album folders even if you follow the proper naming convention. Random seems pretty weak also. I have about 200 albums on there but it seems to get stuck playing only a few different ones, and if you press forward it won't play the next song in random, only the next in the album.

Other than those little quirks I'm extremely happy with it.

Great price/performance

(5 out of 5) by Travis Kilwien on Oct 22, 2009 (Grays Harbor WA)
I had been looking for a new deck for about 2 months for my car. I wanted to be careful with some of Pioneer's products because they started to fill a lower price bracket that didn't have satisfactory performance. Well long story cut short, I bought this deck to run front 2x 6022i infinity speakers and back 2x 9622i infinity speakers and the performance is amazing. I went from an old Panasonic 4x45watts to this, mainly expecting a large increase in quality but I'm glad to be hearing my speakers really thumping, largely due to the quality mosfet amp they have built in to their decks. With the 3 preamp outs, you have plenty of room for amp hook ups, but then again there are many bridgeable amps out there and the likely hood of you needing anymore in the first place is slim. Oh and don't let the single dial used to control most of the effects push you away from this deck, many people have complained about it, but firstly I believe it makes the deck way sexier looking and second it only took me 10 mins parked in my car tinkering around with it (without a manual to assist me) and I was already use to the features and menu settings. I have no problem at all changing the settings while in the car, and I doubt the average person would either. This product deserves a 5 out of 5 stars for its sale price.
