This little radio is exceptional. I've had it now for about a month and I still havent used all its features. The reception is really very good. And it has enough presets to suit anyones needs. It comes with a nice protective sleeve and a good quality set of earbuds. The operation of the radio is just complex enough that you should spend a few minutes with the owners manual. But in terms of clear signal, its the best portable radio I have ever owned. For the price, it is definitley worth it.

This is a nice radio with good reception and decent sound for a small speaker. I especially like the alarm functions, which came in very handy on a recent trip to Europe. The low volume adjustment is a problem and the reason I did not give this radio 5 stars.

pros
-good am/fm sensitivity
-good value for the money
cons
-volume sucks big time, i can't belive cc radio/redsun (redsun of china is the manufacturer) let this irk get by.
-single conversion circuit only...wish it coulda' had dual conversion
-dx/local switch strictly for show
After one year of ownership, this is what I have to say. This is a solid little radio, will get the job done, but don't expect too much. am/fm is good and sw acceptable for it's size. Just as good as most other 50-70 pocket portables out there...at least according to 'passport to world band radio, 2008'..."Good sensitivity on all bands, with no digital hash"...
The problem with this little radio is unanimous...volume starts at one then jumps to three! Three being loud, headphones too (compared to one, which is inaudible)...from there the increments work normally...not good if your significant other is a lite sleeper!!
In all this is a descent pocket radio. It is too bad that it is hampered with volume troubles. Hopefully the next cc/redsun pocket portable will improve upon it.

I bought the CC SWP mainly for the AM reception, and as a replacement for the discontinued Eton E100. Construction quality is far below the E100 but performance is the same on AM, if not slightly better on the low end of the band. This SWP will join other pocket radios in the new Ultralight Radio class, as detailed in the ULR section of www.dxer.ca site.

This is a perfect radio for travelers - flying, hiking etc. The sound is really good, the reception is marvelous, it fits easily into pants pocket and the earphones have a long cord that reaches the ears from a pocket. I live in Brooklyn, NY and get all the stations. I took the CC SWP AM/FM Shortwave Pocket Radio with me to South West Virginia recently and was amazed at the reception. I go often to Europe and am sure that I will be happy withe the reception there as well.
