This device works great as either an internal bay or external device. It needs an internal US card with an internal USB access port on that card, for an internal installation. For external, you only need a USB port.
Works well
My computer is housed inside a desk. Accessing USB ports on the computer is awkward. The Syba 2.0 Hub sits neatly on the desk top giving me easy access to 2.0 ports. Running both a USB cable and a separate 5v DC power cable to the hub (both cables included) allows me to use the hub with more power hungry devices such as my iPod Touch2 and memory sticks. I also upload a lot of photographs from several digital cameras. It took a matter of five minutes to install the hub. The only minor hitch was learning on my own I had to use a separate power cable as mentioned above. If it was explained in the instructions I overlooked it. I'm most satisfied.
Nice idea, pity about the cables for internal use
This is a nice product, very useful in that the sockets are wide apart, so you can use all four even if you use bulky USB accessories like some card readers, they dont crowd each other out of space.
But if you want to use it as an internal hub, the cables provided are a bit useless, since they are made to connect to USB sockets and not to the 10-pins connectors now found on any modern motherboard.
(Probably a left-over from the days long ago when USB only came on an extention board, with some outlets on the backplate, and some more inside the case.)
A work-round to solve this problem is to order also a Startech 2 Outlet USB Plate or similar and use this inside the computer casing, to connect the hub to the motherboard.
Should you want to use it as and external hub, you will find it has the defect that needs two of your existing USB sockets to connect, to give you four USB sockets, so you only gain two.

Super Syba 4-Port USB Hub
I've started to rely on flash drives for back-up and data transfer and needed multiple front panel mounted USB ports on my stone-aged PC. The Syba SD-U2HUB-4 4-Port USB 2.0 internal hub installed in a snap and worked flawlessly. I can't find another panel-mount internal hub to match my old school beige case. No installation problems, low price... can't beat it with a dinosaur bone.
awesome only one with the ports in this direction
awesome!! only one with the ports in this direction. rest are lined up. ample power with the added jacks.
however this is not made by creative labs but seems pretty good none-the-less
