I'm currently using an adapter for the tape deck of my car. It's been driving me nuts lately because it spits the adapter out every 5 seconds. Something is definitely wrong with the tape mechanism, so I thought the iTrip might resolve my problem.
Can't seem to get a strong connection on the dead-air channels in my area. Also, the iPod click-wheel is useless, since the volume can only be controlled by the car. Granted my car is 13 years old and not equipped with the best audio system, but when my tape deck worked, it sounded great. The quality of sound falls short for me when I have the iTrip plugged in. I had higher hopes for this product based on the reviews.

iTrip Rocks until your battery dies
This product is great (sound is excellent, very small, easy to use, no batteries, no downloads or CD's that save files to your unit)until the battery runs out. My car charger uses the same docking station as the iTrip, so I have to wait until I have charged my iPod battery to listen again.
Griffin would have done themselves proud if they had created the unit with a mini-usb port on the bottom, or side, so you could plug into your car charger.
Otherwise, it's a wonderful little gizmo. Well worth the price!

Absolutely horrendous.
I don't know how this device achieved over a 4 star rating. The iTrip looks great and connects flawlessly to my iPod, but once I tried to use it in my car, I realized this was the worst technology purchase I have ever made. I don't know how much living in a metro area contributes to the uselessness of this product (St. Paul, MN), but I could not find a single station that could be used, including the top rated ones listed for the twin cities on the Griffin website. I assume that radio interference from the metro area contributed to the lack of even poor quality of the sound, but the range was by far unacceptable. It seemed to work "ok" only if my iPod was placed in the very back window of my car (within 2 feet of the antenna), but what's the point of having a wireless transmitter if you can't use it in the front seat while driving?
I would highly recommend passing on this model (and try the belkin instead) unless you live in the boonies in Hickville, Mississippi.

Gets the job done
I bought this item to play music through a stereo system on a sailboat. It worked fine with all of the various generations of ipods used by my charter party. The ability to charge the ipod through the mini-usb port while playing was helpful.
I owned the first generation iTrip for use with an earlier ipod. It worked well but this unit is a great improvement.
