Does what it was designed to do ....

Derickson on Oct 7, 2008 (Dale City, VA)I took a recent 400 mile trip in to West Virginia from Virginia and this unit alerted me several times ... with enough time for me to check my speed and adjust accordingly. I picked up a moving police car coming up on my rear several minutes before the police car caught up with and passed me. So, in my opinion, for the money, it's a good unit. TWO things I do not like: I'd like to have a visor mount and I'd like to have a straight, fairly long power cord. For this reason I give the detector a 4.

(2 out of 5) by Tommy Villegas on Feb 20, 2009My old and reliable Cobra Radar Detector went out and I decided to get this one. I don't know if Cobra made the newer models less sensitive or what. This model has no range and gives too many false alerts. Am sending it back to get a Beltronics Detector.

I think cobra makes some the best radar detectors in their price range. This one replaced my old cobra that was about 7 years old. I would say this one gives me about twice the warning time of my older one. It does a better job of picking up the radar signal when i'm approaching the crest of a hill. Highly recommended!

1) The sticky velcro was a horrible idea. It fell off 100 times after strategically placing it in different areas of my windshield.
2) The screen is tiny. I do like the blue LED on the black screen but I don't like that the detector is so big and bulky and the screen is small.
3) I programmed it correctly and it still barely picked up anything. When it did pick something up, it was a grocery store or drug store, NOT ONCE did it pick up a patrol car.
Complete waste of money.
My advice : Go with a Beltronics. This is what I have now and for almost the same price it is much better quality.
