I got this for my kids to have something to listen to music, play games, read E-books, look at favorite pics, and watch small videos that we approve of. You can even record music off the radio band this has. We liked it so much my husband and I got one each too. Although the instructions are not very informative, after playing around with it it was easy to figure out how everything works. The menu/control is awkward until you figure it out and get used to going right for down. My kids got used to it faster than the grown ups. For the price and what this has to offer, and what it can do, its a great product, but find a cover if using for kids.
The small CD that comes with it has a converter so you can convert what ever you like to play on it.
Great buy
This is a great player for the price Who needs a ipod anyway. The software is nice and colorful although a little childish looking, but easy to use. Has cool functions like movies and E book. I recommend this product as a very nice replacement for the over priced ipod.
Cute But Junk
This is supposed to be a 4GB player, and it shows up on my computer as 4 GB, yet it will hold only 1.5 GB before refusing to accept any more files, claiming "no room left on device". Also, the file browser for selecting media files is the absolute worst thing I have ever seen, it takes forever to locate a file. There is no playlist support of any kind, so unless you just want to hear all your mp3s (or 1.5 GB of them, anyway) with no control over the order they play in, it's a real hassle.
I cannot play videos on this either, as the included software for converting video to the required format (.amv) doesn't work. Naturally, I assumed since this is *called* an mp4 player, I would play mp4 files on it. Nope. It doesn't do that either. I was looking forward to the ebook capability, but again, this was a vain hope -- it reads only text files. If you have any good books in text file format, great, you're all set! Of course, no one does... Text files are pretty much never used for ebooks.
There are just two good things I can say about this player: It's cute, and the screen does a good job rendering photos with decent resolution and surprisingly good contrast. Unfortunately, I did not buy it to look at photos, but for playing music and video.
Well, at least it does actually play music, if rather inflexibly.
Next time I will buy a decent brand name player, maybe Phillips or Sandisk. This was my first and last no-name player. My little $30 reminder that "you get what you pay for". But to not even get the 4 GB of storage advertised is pretty darn low.
LOOK GOOD, MALFUNCTION
Good looks, good finishes, multi-function button a little coarse, memory unstable or unusable in some cases,The computer does not recognize the device, is not updated to serve the player so easy, it lacks manual. It's worth spending a little more on recognized brand.
CONTENT: Data cable / charger, Charger, Disk Drivers, "in ear" headphones
(the same colour as the player) and Player.
