Deleriously Happy

(5 out of 5) by G. A. Ure on Mar 27, 2008 (East Texas in these Great United States)
OK, I'm one of those work-at-home self-employed over 55 guys who can't get a job anywhere because we want too much money and won't put up with the everyday crap that most corp headtrippers demand. So I consult.

Along the way I needed a laser printer. I know it's a subtle difference at first blush between a laser-printed and inkjet'ed document, but there really IS a difference. So, a proper SOHO setup needs a laser print.

Point #2: This one has the wireless networking built in. Aha! Three minutes of setup each and all four of my computers can spit out high class documents. Spiffy.

Point #3: I read the other Amazon reviews and it looked like the Brother was as good (or better) than others. Thinking Amazon readers/buyers are damn smart folks, I bought one.

I told a colleague about my decision (a client actually). His (brand programmed) reaction was "You bought a Brother? Why not a 'bigger name' (two letter initials deleted out of respect). I said "Read the reviews, do the cost per print calcs and tell me why I'm wrong..."

Haven't heard back from him on this point. I think he brought the two-letter brand for about the same price. But without wireless. Me? I hate wires/mess/not being able to hit everything with 802.11.

When it comes to techie toys, there's fools and then there's damn fools. I've had the printer in for a couple of months - and turns out "I ain't no damn fool" and neither are the other positive reviews. Buy it.

Updated Six Months Into Owning it: Still Deleriously happy with it. have printed a couple of thousand pages and still on the original cartridge. Yep. I'm a genius. You can be, too...

not such a great feeling

(3 out of 5) by John Feesey on Dec 6, 2008 (British Columbia,Canada)
The TN360 High yield cartridge replaced a 638 page Lo-yield cartridge that shipped with the MFC-7840W. My feeling about buying name brand consumables:GREAT! If this item works well with their brand- and it REALLY does, why mess with it? You have won my loyalty. My feeling about why a quality company like Brother would stick you with a gianormous, toxic looking catridge after 638 pages when at no cost to the environment or me they could put in a normal size cartridge:not such a great feeling.

Good unit - slow shipping

(4 out of 5) by DK on Apr 30, 2009 (Solon, OH)
I've noticed that shipping from Amazon has gotten a lot slower - the OEM unit was great as always - but response time is twice as long as a year ago.

Bad experience

(1 out of 5) by Earline F. Gosney on Mar 17, 2009 (Danville, VA)
I ordered a toner for my Brother printer, but it wasn't a Brother Toner I got, it was a toner that was supposed to be the same as a Brother. My toner ran out when I was printing some important documents and I opened the toner that I had ordered in February. When I opened the inside black envelope to remove the cartridge, black powder went everywhere. I took it out of the package and tried to clean it up as best I could and inserted it in my printer. It wouldn't work. I took it out time and time again and tried to refit it after multiple times cleaning my printer on the inside from all the black powder. I finally gave up, removed the cartridge and drove to a local Office Max and purchased a Brother TN360 High Yield Black Toner Cartridge. I had to clean the drum (which you're not really supposed to do), so at first my printer printed unevenly, but finally it began to print normally again. I contacted the supplier and they refunded my money, thankfully. For the small amount of savings it would have been if it had worked, it certainly wasn't worth all the trouble it caused.

Don't trust the product

(1 out of 5) by JEMILLA on Sep 10, 2009
I bought the TN 360 High Yield black toner cartridge in July, 09. It is a mistake. I thought that Amazon is a big company and bought the Brother TN 360 High yield toner from it. WRONG! It only printed less than 100 pages and low toner sign appeared. I thought it was a mistake. I went into the menu and print the whole thing. Yes, the toner is low. Please do not buy this toner from Amazaon. I am looking for other sources now.
