Asus eee 2G Surf - WiFi
When configuring the wireless connection, the computer immediately recognized my network name, but when I tried to connect it was pending forever. Solution was as follows:
Network settings: after naming your network, in the wireless tab, under network name, change mode from auto to infrastructure. x the box next to enable encryption. Under encryption type (WEP), the key is NOT your password but the key that the router assigned to you when it was installed to your main computer. If you don't have it, reinstall the router with the CD that came with it. If CD is not available, you can download it from the router website. Once I entered the right key, WiFi was enabled within 10 seconds. Also, in general tab, change start mode to "on boot" so you don't have to type the key in every time you boot up computer.
Great notebook for it's intended purpose - internet, email and office docs. Bought a 4G SD card ($18 on ebay - same one at WalMart was $35)for additional drive space to load music, pics, etc.

Wow so much in such a little package
Okay, this is it, a laptop/notebook the size of a good book. Those big laptops broke my back. This little thing is great to tote around to school and work and back home.
Pluses:
Internet connectivity is easy and fast.
Love the simple games on it (I'm addicted)
Size is wonderful (who says size is everything)
Minuses:
I baught the 2Gb (probably should have gone with 4 or 8Gb but for the price it works for me. I just need to be creative in what programs I download and install. (I also baught extra 16Gb for storage and that works great for music and work stuff.)
The only thing I don't like about the keyboard is the shift key on the right hand side and backspace key are too small and I keep missing them. Otherwise the keyboard is great and easy to use. Maybe I should stop playing games and practice my keyboard skills.

Very Popular Companion
This little thing is really cute and easy to use. It's got word processing that I use to take notes in class and write papers. I've gotten used to the size of the keyboard so it always feels weird typing on normal keyboards. It's also got pretty much every basic application I need, including solitaire with 15+ different types of solitaire. Whenever I use it around campus, I alway have people coming up to me excited to see a tiny computer.
cons: the battery life only lasts about 2.5 hours, so I carry my charger with me. However the charger is very light and compact.
Also, I'm not really good with linux so I don't know how to fix the settings in order to connect to my university's wifi. But any open, password-free wifi is easily connected to.

Asus Eee
First off, for the price the Eee would receive an easy 10. its ultra portable, doesn't lag to much, has office applications, pretty cool GUI, Pidgin Messenger, Games, and much more. all of which are located on a 2G solid state hard drive.
Price aside, I encountered two inconveniences with this laptop. First, its not the fastest; it does lag, but not horribly. when surfing the net the Eee seems to lag considerably if their is a lot of traffic, or if your 30 ft away from the router. The wireless card isn't the best but it still works. Second, 2G is really just enough, to allow the OS, and other Apps. room on the HD. I would personally go with 4G HD if i had to buy again.
Apart from these two negative aspects i would have to say that the very affordable price of the Eee would have to cancel these small problems out. It does for me anyway; i hoped this helped some of you.
