well engineered, well built, super easy to use.
I cut reports comprised of photo paper covers and insides made of 24# 97 bright paper. The reports can be from 2 sheets with covers to over 200 sheets of paper. I've bought 3 other manual stack cutters before this QCM-8200M in the last two years. The wheel type paper holder of the 3 older cutters is not very accurate when compared to this one. This machine has that wonderful holder that allows very accurate cuts for paper stacks from very thin to over an inch and half. While all the other cutters will cut the stacks when the blade is new, the older models are not nearly so accurate or precise.
Besides the accuracy issues, the blades are a problem with all the old cutters I have. After sharpening it is extremely difficult to align the blades and to get the blade to cut all the way through the cover on the bottom of the stack. Often the blade will cut the edges of the piece, but not the center. I have spent hours fiddling with the plastic cutter bar, rotating and supporting it in different manners but still the cutter has problems.
Two other complaints about the old cutters. The blades are made from too soft steel and dull too quickly. Finally, the pins in the old blades are made from too soft steel and bend and distort easily if the sharpener hammers on them instead of using a vise or press to return them after sharpening. This makes reassembly more difficult. Basically, the mechanism is just too crude to allow blade sharpening and reassembly. That is why we bought so many units- it was easier to buy a new one than to sharpen and reassemble the old one (although I've done that a number of times too- usually unsuccessfully)!
This machine is fully assembled and ready to use out of the box. It has a blade carrier. That makes blade replacement like a snap. The blade seems to be made from much better/tougher material.
In summary, I am very happy with my new cuter and recommend this machine 100%.

This paper cutter is amazing - wow!!!!!
This paper cutter is amazing - wow!!!!! I feel so ultra-professional now. It is a quality piece of high precision, and such a pleasure to use. I had a project to get out the door that would have required 3,650 cuts, because my standard guillotine-style cutter could not give me the precision to cut multiple at the same time without their slipping and offsetting from one another. How many cuts did I end up needing to do with the QCM-8200M? 18. It cuts through inch and half 100 lb paper stack like hot knife through butter. I should have bought the machine earlier. I love it.

It's truly a charm to operate
I bought 5 stack cutters on eBay throughout the years. One of them looks almost the same as 8200M but at less than half of the price. They all broke down. Finally, I purchased this QCM-8200M. It is very well built. It is very easy to operate. It cuts so precisely. Compare the other cutters, my conclusion is: learn my lessons and don't waist your money on eBay.

Way better than a Martin Yale 7000E!
It's hard to describe how much better the QCM 8200M is than my Martin Yale 7000E. It cost less than half as much, requires about a tenth of the force to cut through a 1 inch stack of 65# card stock, the clamp mechanism works much more freely, stock is easier to remove from the clamp, the blade is easily replaced and leveled within minutes, the cuts are cleaner and more precise, I could go on and on. Long story short, my 85 pound assistant is now capable of cutting jobs that previously only I could do and for that, I'm extremely grateful.

Great little guillotine cutter
This is a professional quality guillotine cutter. I had a less expensive model of this cutter (made by the same company) for about two years but and was thrilled with it when first starting out, but it had a life span of about two years before it starting giving me trouble. Had I known about this model at that time, and known then what I knownow, I would,in hindsight, have bought this one instead. It is so far superior to the other model that it makes the other one seem like a toy in comparison. This model is sturdy, accurate and smooth. I am thrilled with its performance and highly recommend it.
