Reliable

Of course, you won't notice any speed increase from the SATA interface because no optical drive mechanism is ever going to demand that much bandwidth. The big benefit to SATA is that the cables are thinner (better air flow in your case), and IDE is on the way out technology-wise.

I've owned this for a month now, burned dozens of DVDs and a couple of CDs so far, and have had not one single bad burn. It simply works, which is how optical drives oughtta be.

I do have a bit of a beef with the included software (Nero). It's the worst sort of bloatware that duplicates many functions already available to most users of Windows XP or Windows Vista. The "Home Essentials" caused trouble with Vista and was a pain to uninstall. Word to the wise: install "Smart Essentials" and avoid installing "Home Essentials."

Dont order from CSC Vista

First Problem Ive ever had on Amazon. Ordered this drive, got a confirmation order was received, but they never shipped it. Filed a complaint after it didnt arrive on due date. Sent seller 4 emails, he never returned a single one. Finally filed a claim with Amazon and the order was cancelled. No harm except tied me up waiting on it for 5 weeks.

Works great!

No complaints. Works great. Easy to install. Doesn't make a lot of noise. And it does everything it is supposed to do at a great low price.
