Get What You Pay For

(5 out of 5) by H. Huffman on Jul 17, 2008
I bought this item a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. I got a trendy MP4 player along with saving around $300. Honestly, those that buy this product and complain that it's not as advanced as the iPod Touch, then they should really reconsider what they're doing. You get what you pay for and when you spend less than a hundred dollars there is no way it's going to be like the name brand competitors. It preformed exactly what I wanted it to - music; along with a few bonuses of video, photo, voice recorder, and a game. The touch screen isn't very hard to manage either; I don't need to use the stylus that came with it. Now, I don't mean to sound like an advertisement, but I did find this to be a very nice investment. If it were to break, I would even consider buying another one.

Like most things, it has its faults. Such as, the radio is kinda hinky; I'm not entirely sure how to work it. And the game is real "old school" and not really worth playing. Of course, it's not made of the best materials but it has already withstood a 4 foot drop onto concrete. I suggest to anyone that is going to buy one to also find screen protection sheets because seeing as it is a touch screen the plastic gets torn, scratched, and faded easily.

As I have mentioned earlier, it did exactly what I wanted it to and I am definitely happy with it, especially considering what I paid for it.

I hope people won't keep buying this product and constantly compare it to the iPod. Because, it's not and never will be. But it's a very nice alternative for those that want the music player without the astronomical prices.

Formidable Competitor of Expensive Video Players

(5 out of 5) by J. Dai on Mar 31, 2008
Some of my friends and my cousin bought the Apple I-phone came out, and they paid a premium for it. A few months later, competing products such as these MP4 / Video players came out. I was among the first in my school to use the Touch Screen Portable Media Player, and it was good enough to pass off as an i-Phone. I showed my friends the pros and cons about the player, and they seemed to like it. Because of this, when their birthdays came I gave them one as a gift. (since I had a few extra players - If I had bought an Apple V-Pod, I-pod, I would be dirt poor)

The manufacturing costs of top brands of MP3 / Video players, have been in the past, designed to maximize profit at the expense of the consumer. The quality of Apple is generally very good, but since they have the majority share in the market, they don't even have to make their quality top notch and they can still get by.

Who notices about top notch electronics now anyways? People have grown nonchalant and used to the variations of technology. As long as the quality is good, people use products in their daily lives. Besides, there are features found on the Touch Screen Media Player that are not found on the Apple iPhone. Each product has its distinct advantages, whether it be Apple, Sony, or a generic brand.

Pro Ebiz....The Christmas Grinch!

(1 out of 5) by Marc B. Burkhart on Nov 29, 2009 (Las Cruces, NM)
First of all, I would like to point out that the item described was technically no longer covered by the company's warranty policy(about one day). The customer service rep, however, did not see a problem with sending me a new unit despite that fact. Let's get down to what made this such a crappy christmas present. THE....BATTERY! I charged this thing up for a whole day and died before the unit even had a chance to go into idle mode. I then thought I needed to keep the unit active while charging. So I constantly pressed the menu button every time it went into idle mode. Eureka! I discovered after a full charge it held a 10 minute charge. A little happier, but somewhat dissilussioned, I pressed on to look online for a external usb battery within my price range. Not finding one, I believe what I learned is that had I known that if a battery for a certain product costs as much as the product itself, it might be an indication as to the quality of the product. Sure, it was pretty cheap. Sure, it has cool features. What it needed was a longer instruction manual. I read the positive reviews, and I'm sure they're accurate. I just have to wonder how out of the thousands of people who are ordering this product this season I'm the one who Pro Ebiz decided to recieve the tempermental one. The shipping time when they eventually shipped it(two weeks after shipping them the first paperweight I had ordered), was pretty fast, and I give them props for sending it so fast. Now, I know this has nothing to do with the review, but I thought I'd make time to help consumers shopping this holiday season aware of who some reputable sellers are and who arn't. Shall we begin?

To be honest, there are a lot of reputable sellers on amazon, but I'm so mad right now these are the only ones I want to make known. And though the first three sellers did make online buying a very disconcerting process, I should personally thank the last one for stealing my christmas. Thanks, Pro Ebiz!

Nice features, but fragile

(2 out of 5) by Mirabella on Apr 24, 2008
I think this is a good alternative to the Apple iPhone, but it's very fragile. I accidentally dropped it today and a big blue and white triangle appeared on the edge of the screen. It still works, but that triangle won't disappear. Now I'm out $93.99(MP4 + S&H) and I feel like I've wasted my money.

Equivelent, if not better than Iphone

(4 out of 5) by J. Palange on Nov 23, 2007
I bought this device a few weeks ago as an alternative to the pricey iphone and i am very satisfied. It has all the features you'd expect from Tectronic like jpeg, gif and bmp as well as a low battery indicator. you can even hack it and add your own mods aftermarket.
