Another excellent wiebetech product.

I have the regular drivedock for sata and pata drives. Excellent to access data from old hard drives or from drives that your pc wont access.

This is an excellent device, albeit expensive.

Note that alot of notebook drives (like Dells) have an adapter on them to interface with the notebook... these are easily pulled off to allow access to the drivedock.

I recommend.

Find out what's on those old drives

(5 out of 5) by Unzar Jones on Mar 20, 2009 (Southern California)
So far, I've found a total of eight internal drives, lying around either in boxes or in nonworking machines. The Drivedock is a simple to use gem to find out those files that were abandoned and rescuing those you would like to keep.
A couple of my old drives wouldn't spin up, but those that did let me retrieve some photos that were otherwise lost and an expense sheet from 1999(not that I need it). Kind of like looking through an old chest in the attic! Now I can throw out the drives I don't want without the nagging thought that something important went with them.

Great for off-site storage!

I had a number of old IDE hard drives and was about to get rid of them since I had upgraded to larger, faster SATA drives. When I saw this device, I realized I could use them as backups and for off-site storage. It's easy to swap drives in and out of the Drivedock, and they run as fast as the USB connection will allow. A great use for the old drives, and a significant cost savings over buying new external hard drives!

A great, useful device to save your data from old Hard Drives.

I have several hard drives which came out of old computers as they failed. Most are still good and hold data which I need to get out or would still like access to. The most recent failure I had was the mother board on my very old but still functional desktop, so the hard drive was fine. I got this device in today and I have gone through 6 hard drives to get data out. You simply plug in the old drive as instructed in the DVD manual, using the included power supply, although you can use the power supply of your computer. I just would rather not open up my case. Once plugged in, you turn the Drivedock on and it automatically loads the driver to your PC, mine being a Vista Home Premium computer, and the old HD pops up as a drive in the My Computer window. I could transfer about 60 GB of data in about 50 mins over my USB port. It is great to be able to go through these old drives, like a portal back in time. There is an included interface for SATA drives as well as IDE. I also successfully transferred data out to a Seagate external HD. There is a plate included which you can screw onto your HD to protect the circuits and aid in heat transfer, but I found it unnecessary for the limited time I had each drive hooked up. All in all a great deal for only about $50 shipped, easy to use.

hard drive access

this product only works if your hard drive works. if your hard drive does not work it is a waste of money!
