Save your money! There is a reason that this is cheap.

If you are thinking about buying this backdrop stand, please beware. I read all the other reviews and thought that it isn't that bad for the price. But boy was I wrong. This stand set is very bad. Cheap build, flimsy, rivets are all about to snap in half. Unknown holes were drilled into the crossbar which had metal shavings hanging out, causing a tear in one of my muslins. Total rip off. For $30.00 more, you can get a Impact background support system with better quality and same specs for $99.00 at B&H. If you are even thinking about getting this set, I laugh at you now for not listening to me.

backdrop stand

(1 out of 5) by Tiffany Hiles on Dec 12, 2008
This came to us in one jumbled up mess. It should have been shipped in a box, and wasn't, so the bag was ripped open. Not unzipped. So when Fed Ex got it, they tried to package it better so all the pieces wouldn't roll around their truck, but when we got it we just shook out heads. Someone needs to rethink that one. I'll never buy one again from them.
Bite it in the wallet and get something huge for more money. Learned that the hard way on this end. Oh well.

Great for the price, good for photographers on a budget

After reading the reviews I decided to go for buying this support system over the more expensive ones and I was not disappointed. The setup is easy and makes more sense then the smaller more expensive system I own. The system is surprisingly sturdy given the cost and the materials hold up well to punishment. I use this to shoot on location and am very happy with the performance. The metal is durable and it survived being knocked over (which took considerable force) and is no worse for the wear. It sounds flimsy (it creaks a bit) when setting it up, but it does the job.

Pros:
Cheap
Durable
easy to set up
well built for the cost
Cary bag

Cons
it less sturdy than the really expensive stands
I've only had it a short time, and I can't say if its long lasting
its a bit heavy

Better then expected

Great product. Sturdier than I imagine. Have used it several times and is super easy to put up and take down. When in it's bag it is fairly light. I use it with 107" wide seamless paper and it still has about a foot on each side of extra space left over. great price for a great item!

Heavy Duty Stand

(5 out of 5) by Jake Jacobson on Nov 11, 2008
I just received this today, I'm very happy with this purchase! After reviewing several backdrop stands and backdrop sets online, I chose to purchase them separately. This stand is far better than I imagined, and is very sturdy. I definitely recommend this.

I'm using this as a home studio backdrop stand, however it does come with a nice carrying case if you want to take it on location, the only problem is it's a little heavy to carry.
