Excellent, simple, easy to operate

(5 out of 5) by Mama to Aid'nAsh on May 4, 2008
I got this after not doing my research and spending $150 on the Toothpik (don't bother with it, it is horrible). I thought these things were going to be completely useless, with horrible sound quality and a bunch of echoes.

Was I ever wrong. It is literally like speaking on the phone when it is clipped to the visor. It gets a little wacky if you put it so the microphone is pointed AWAY from you, but that's not how it is meant to be used. You can even speak with it in the passenger seat.

You can turn the damn blue light off, which is something most other models lack.

The volume is more than adequate. You won't be able to roll the windows down, crank the stereo, and have a conversation. But you don't have to yell, either.

There's really only one button for the majority of the work, and it makes sense.

I don't think you'll be disappointed if you need one of these. Both my wife and I were pleasantly surprised and I just bought another for her.

Awesome. Best hands-free bluetooth ever made

(5 out of 5) by A. Miles on Apr 19, 2008 (Washington DC)
Buy this. Stop shopping around and wasting your time, just buy this.

This device is worth twice as much as any other supposed hands-free bluetooth device. It pairs easily, works reliable, never 'forgets' a pairing. It's the loudest I've seen (but could still be louder, I suppose). My wife and I each have one that we use with our iPhones, and have had 0 complaints. I can even use it in my convertible with the top down at low speeds. Nothing works on the highway.

It's cool that it will power itself down 15 minutes after the last pairing, so you don't have to remember to shut it off when you leave your car.

It's slender and attractive, unlike bulky competitors.

I've bought and returned the Parrot and Motorola devices before finding this one. Night and day difference.

Great Speakerphone

(5 out of 5) by marshall on Mar 25, 2008 (Los Angeles)
I bought this from Costco a few weeks ago and it comes with the adapter to charge the speakerphone at home. Paired with my iPhone no problem. On the streets, I can hear callers no problem and they say I sound great. On the highway, it is a little more difficult to hear and just depends on how quiet your cabin is. I like the overall look of the device and the I haven't had to charge mine yet. I'm very happy with my purchase.

I can't find the words to say how impressed I am!

(5 out of 5) by chrispyrook on Mar 17, 2008 (SE Washington)
I bought this speakerphone a little over a week ago. I have an iPhone and have been scouring different websites for a bluetooth headset or speakerphone that is compatible. I was speaking to a co-worker, and he advised that he had heard about this speakerphone. I must admit that I was a little skeptical at first, but after reading the reviews, I decided to give it a whirl.

I could not be more impressed!! I tested this item using a couple of different scenarios. First I called somebody and spoke to them from my vehicle going about 35-40 MPH with the driver's window down and radio on. I turned the volume on the radio up until it was comfortable for me to hear. The person I called said he couldn't hear the radio until there was silence on my end and then only faintly. The open window didn't have any negative effect at all, and he had to ask me if I really had the window down. I also had him call me from my vehicle because I wanted to hear for myself what the clarity was like. I must say that in both instances, the conversation was clear without any crackling or "tinny" sound. The only downside was at the beginning of each call, I could hear an echo. I discovered that this was because the vehicle the speakerphone was in was parked about 10 feet from the landline we used during this testing. The "echo" went away as soon as he started driving away. This is something I can live with since I don't normally call people when I'm in my vehicle 10 feet away from whomever I'm calling. It would be interesting to know if other users have experienced this same problem.

I plan on two more "tests" for this product. I would like to call somebody who is also using a Jabra SP5050, which is easy to do because I happened to buy my girlfriend one as well. I also would like to find out if a passenger speaking into the speakerphone will have any negative effect on the clarity. Because the unit is clipped to the driver's side visor, I wonder if this would be an issue. For instance, if I call somebody, and my passenger has some comment to make on the conversation, is it going to cut out or sound tinny?

I will update this review once those tests have been conducted. Really, I don't see either one of those things being an issue because rarely am I in a vehicle with somebody else. I am more curious than anything else, and my co-workers were really the ones who wanted me to conduct those two other tests.

As things stand now, I am extremely happy with my Jabra SP5050. I agree with other reviews that it would be nice to have an AC adapter, but I settled for buying a DC adapter that plugs into a wall outlet. A little irritating, but not enough to steer me away from a 5-star rating!

Looks Good Performs Bad

I recieved my Jabra Yesterday, tried about three calls on it. If you drive on the highway don't buy this Item. The volume is very low, and I jacked up the phone volume to the max. I have other bluetooth Items that work very well with my phone, on this the volume is just too low.
