Simple yet effective speakerphone

(5 out of 5) by Daniel Scagliozzi on Mar 10, 2008 (West Orange, NJ)
This product is great; charge it up, power it on, it pairs automatically with your cell phone!! It's simple to use, crystal clear on both ends!!
The battery life is unbelievable and the unit shuts itself off 20 minutes after ou exit the car.
A great product that does exactly what it claims!

Great speakerphone

(4 out of 5) by RM on Feb 25, 2008 (Naperville, IL)
I purchased the Jabra SP5050 for a couple of reasons: 1) municipal law 2) on the road too much for work, my arm gets tired of holding my phone to my head 3)my hands are free to operate vehicle. The Jabra didn't disappoint me. I am Regional Manager and log about 500 to 750 miles per week. Most of my contact with people is from my car while I am in between locations.

I ordered it from Amazon and the delivery was lightning fast. It was on sale at the time which meant I paid $30.00 less with Amazon.

The speakerphone is great. I didn't want the bluetooth headset because I didn't want anything in my ear. They look stupid and I didn't want to look like a kid. I searched the internet and liked the feedback I found on the Jabra. At first I wasn't sure I would like a speakerphone and it does take some getting use to but I became very comfortable with it very quickly.

Here is what I like about it.

1)The setup was seamless with my Blackberry Pearl which recognized the unit quickly. While I have a speakerphone on my phone I was always holding it up to my ear because of the volume. This is not the case with the Jabra.

2)The sound level of the Jabra is loud enough including highway driving in my SUV (Envoy, doesn't handle wind too well)and it can be adjusted with

Works so far.

I bought this item based on the reviews. Well guess what, the darn thing actually works. When I bought it there were no additional pictures that now exist on the website. The pictures make it easier to see what you are getting. The speakerphone MUST be plugged into your CAR power source to get the initial charge. Takes about 2 to 3 hours of driving to get the phone charged. As said in other reviews your cellphone MUST be turned up to max volume and the Jabra MUST to turned up to MAX volume to hear those talking to you. Sound is fairly clear although the Jabra speaker is small. The instructions that come with the phone are average with lots of misspelling (example "our" is suppose to be "your"). Makes a different when you are trying to figure out what to do. I MUCH prefer using this speaker phone that having some piece of plastic in my ear.

horrible waste of money

I have an LG VX8600 cell phone and spend a good deal of time on the road. Was looking for a hands free way to talk when I spotted this item. I have had good experience with Jabra bluetooth headsets, saw the reviews, and asked "Why not?" There are two major problems with the 5050 and the first is a fatal flaw. People can not hear me very well and I can not hear them very well. Tried the unit in my car (Toyota 4Runner) and my wife's (Toyota Prius). If the car is standing still, the volume is fine. On I95 and other busy roads, forget it. I have gone back to using my Jabra headset and regard the 5050 as "fatally flawed." The other irritating problem is the charging system. You have to charge the unit in your car for 2 hours to start; or you can spend $15 bucks additionally for an AC/DC adapter. Actually, the bluetooth built into my Garmin 660 GPS is so much better (works very well). On a positive note, the 5050 paired just fine with my phone. Still, if I can't hear them and they can't hear me who needs the thing. Now if you are looking for something you can use as a speaker phone while you are sitting in your home office, go ahead and by the 5050, otherwise you money is better spent elsewhere.

Jabra beats the competition hands down

(5 out of 5) by B. Kontozissi on Jun 8, 2008 (Montreal, Quebec Canada)
originally i was looking at the Motorolla T305 but everyone complained that the blue light for the bluetooth was too bright and too annoying...so then i looked at the Parrot Car Kit and while most reviews were positive i found it too thick and too bulky. So then I looked at the Jabra (the one i bought). So far after 3 weeks of using it i must say it's a great product. The lights are not distracting at all but if u find they are...the jabra has a neat "night" feature that lets u turn them all off.

In terms of size it's sooo slim...it's actually slimmer than my Samsung M510 cell phone. It's great I love it. It pairs flawlessly and turns itself off after 15 minutes if not in use to conserve battery power. So far I find myself having to charge it about once a week.

The only drawback is that the charger it comes with is only for the car. so basically u can't take it inside to your home and plug it in...BUT i got around this problem by buying the powerline 12 volt DC-AC converter. This lets u plug it right into a wall outlet.

While some people complained about the volume being too low...that problem is solved if you turn the volume up on your cell phone to get the maximum amount of volume on the jabra. Once you do this, the volume level is fine.

My voice and the callers voice comes in crystal clear...my friends have actually told me to lower my voice because they can hear me just fine.

I would definately recommend this speakerphone over the motorolla and parrot easily.
