Fills a need, but may die an early death
The Hoodman does the job it is supposed to. It allows you to clearly view a camera LCD in sunlight. Don't expect magnification, it does not do that. As it is not physically connected to the camera, it is possible for it to fall to the ground. Mine did, and it exploded into many glass lenses and retaining rings. Despite its externally robust appearance, the optics are held together by something made to look like an American made screw-in retaining ring, but it is in fact, a woefully inadequate thin piece of plastic junk. It pops in and out with the slightest pressure. Seeing your camera LCD when the sun is shining s a good thing, and the Hoodman is about the only product currently available that will allow you to do that- just don't let the Hoodman fall to the ground!

Works with Most Small Digital Cameras with LCD screen
This is simply a fantastic product.
I have an Pentax W20 waterproof camera with LCD screen. Until I bought this product, screen glare made it difficult to see the LCD screen when taking outdoor photos. I practically had to guess at what I was looking at. In addition I had to hold the camera away from me to see the LCD screen and this sometimes produced blurry pictures due to camera shake.
This product solved all these problems. With this product it's easy to see the LCD screen in any light and any position of the Sun. With its adjustable diopters I can adjust it so I can use my regular long distance glasses and don't have to put on my bifocals or reading glasses.
I can hold the loupe and camera right up to my glasses so I have eliminated camera shake, and can see clearly what I am shooting.
The only downside is it is a tad expensive, but there is as far as I know no other product that will do what this does.
If you don't have glasses and don't need the focal adjustment, it is possible that a simple less expensive product from hoodman which consists of just a shaded hood will work for you.

Very handy tool for outdoor photographers
I have a Canon 20D which does not have a particularly large LCD screen on it and I found it very difficult to see my shots while outdoors or in other poor lighting conditions. This loupe allows you to set it right against the back of the camera so it reduces all glare and it's magnification allows you to put your eye right up to it and see your LCD bright, clear and crisp. I typically wear reading glasses to look at anything close up and there is no need with this, I can see everything very well.

HoodLoupe Professional
I have this as well and enjoy it, though I wish it were priced closer to $40 than nearly $70. I use this with my Canon 5D which has a 2.5" LCD screen. Very helpful on bright, sunny days. Actually it is helpful in all conditions for better focus checking when you zoom it.

I can see!!!
Hey:
I live in Florida "The Sunshine State" I am using a Canon 30D to do landscape photography. I wear glasses and set the Diopter adjustment of my camera so that I can see when taking the shot. In the sun I could not see the LCD on my camera at all. I need to see the shot after I take it to adjust in the field. This is a great product; you can adjust the Diopter on the Loup and can see everything. It does have soft rubber at each end but the mid-section is hard plastic, so I can see why when Richard dropped his it shattered. Since I am going to look like a GEEK walking around with this around my neck anyhow I am going to put me a ring of foam rubber around each end so if I do drop it might give it a little cushion. Great product.
