Impressive and handy

(4 out of 5) by Old Man Bob on Aug 5, 2008 (The great ole USA)
I am quite happy with this little gem. All items seem of good quality and are securely nested in specific places that are cut to the size and shape of each item. Very professional appearance. The quality seems very good and the zippered case is an added plus.

Many of the cables have retractable cable holders eliminating excessive lengths of cords hanging off the table when using my notebook in a non desk environment like a coffe shop or hotel room. A friend in IT at work saw mine and had to know where I got it from. Amazon followed through with great shipping on time and as promised.

Excellent addition to your travel kit

(5 out of 5) by Jerry Saperstein on Sep 18, 2008 (Evanston, IL USA)
True story: I was a passenger in a car on a lengthy expressway trip zipping along at . . . well, it wasn't 55. I was trying to work on a deadline project using my laptop and absolutely, positively needed to get online to fetch some information from the web. No problem thought I: I'll use my cell phone as a modem. I reached into my travel bag for my cell phone's USB cable and - yep, I had left it at home. (Bluetooth wasn't working.)

For a moment I sort of panicked, thinking we would have to take time to connect at a truck stop. Then I remembered this handy little kit was tucked away in my bag.

A few seconds later, I had put the needed cable together and was online.

There are many kits like this on the market. I suspect that there are only one, two or a very few companies that make the fittings and they assemble the kits to the specificationas of their customers like Cables To Go, Belkin and others.

This Cables To Go kit is more fully featured than any other I've seen so far. It not only has every relatively common USB connector, it also has 6-pin and 4-pin Firewire connectors, an RJ-11 (telephone jack) cable, another for RJ-45 (CAT5 network), a mouse suitable for short-term use, a 4-port USB hub and a surpisingly useful RJ-45 crossover cable (which can come in very handy when you need to move massive amounts of data from one computer to another).

Overall, this is a great value. It is not something that you're likely to use every day, but, let's say, when you're zipping down the highway and absolutely, positively need to hook up with your cell phone to get online and realize you forgot your specialty cable, you'll appreciate having this kit on hand.

A great kit

(5 out of 5) by E. Gonzales on Aug 8, 2008 (Stockton, CA USA)
I picked this up and was able to clear out a lot of clutter from my backpack. I travel often to customer sites and being able to mix and match connectors is very convenient. Being able to make console and crossover cables can be a life saver.

I'll give it 5 stars despite the mouse. Don't get me wrong, it works great. It's an optical wheel mouse and while small works great. My only objection is that the mouse buttons make too loud of a noise when you click them. Almost like a kids toy.

Tons of cables; a little cheaply made

(4 out of 5) by T. Pruss on Aug 30, 2009
I have ended up using this product a lot, much more than I thought I would. It has a cable for pretty much everything. I can even have a spare printer cable just in case. This kit also comes with a mouse -- when my main mouse broke, I had this little guy and was able to use my computer until I got a new one. The USB hub is nice, but the ports do seem a little slower since it is self-powered.

It is just a little cheaply made. When I was snapping a cable back into place, the whole contraption that makes it retract broke. It took about 15 minutes to fix and it still doesn't retract as well as before.

Even though it may not be the best made product out there, it does work and it works nicely. You'll get much more use out of this than you think.

Great organization

(5 out of 5) by H. Lee on Aug 24, 2008 (Fullerton, CA)
This is one of those products that I wish I could have bought much sooner. it has a wide variety of different cable needs for my laptop and the best part is that it is all neatly arranged in one place for me to refer to. As a heavy notebook and travel computing user, I was constantly plagued with clutter in my computer bag, and having great difficulty finding anything among the dozens of pockets. With this kit, all of my cabling needs are in one place, that I can quickly get too, and no more fumbling.
